This board hates a large portion of the south population whether they be trashy or culture. Then we don’t need to go into how shitty and broke the most southern states are.
Eh, when adjusted for purchasing power, California is a pretty shitty place to live for a lot of people as well. It has the highest poverty rate in America PPP-adjusted and is among the highest in inequality.
They've also had, by far, the worst out-migration for American-born citizens over the last couple of decades (about -1.5MM if I remember correctly, next closest being Illinois who was about -500K). The only reason it's not a complete basketcase (like Illinois on steroids) is because of high levels of immigration. Clearly, something is rotten in Denmark.
I used to live on the West Coast, and it definitely has its positives, but it's frustrating to see what was once an iconic state and maybe the place with the highest quality of living in the world just shite all over themselves and screw it up. The money-pit that is the bullet train is a great example of screwed up policy and priorities.

I've lived out in California for the past 3 years. In the process of moving out of state right now and retiring for good. California was fun but not a place I want to stay long term. I've lived in 9 states during my time in the military. There are good things and bad things about every place. It's a trade off somewhere.

People with less inherently feel better to hate people with more. Be it sports, money, intelligence, whatever...
I think it's how the debate here about Texas rages so fervently. After the debate shows we over here hunt, fish, like pretty girls, love oil and have good food the last ditch effort is to bash Austin Libs and Mexicans. It's Cali 2.0 and is ridiculous to be upset about.

I don’t think anyone cares about California.
It’s Californian’s that rub people the wrong way. I just read a study that 83.7% of all male Californians have either been in or are in some type of same sex relationship.

People in California often talk about the positives of the state, but rarely acknowledge the negatives. Sure, much of the state in incredibly beautiful and there are a number of exciting cities with a ton of shite to do. But at least admit that it comes with a price. To live in those great places you're probably going to have to accept a lower standard of living than in a lot of other states, and not just the shitholes.
I love California, and I would move back if the right opportunity presented itself. However, there are others states with incredible scenery and recreational activities that offer a better bang for your buck IMHO. If you're rich, California is tough to beat.

I'm in Los Angeles about 6-8 times a year. It's beautiful (except right now, been raining for a few days), but I would not want to live here for multiple reasons.

No was never stationed at Ft Irwin. If you look at my name and location of 90245, I live in El Segundo. I live 1/4 mile to the ocean. My wife's family owns real estate out here and it's insane.
So yeah, where I live is "living".

Camp Pendleton, Miramar, North Island NAS, and Monterey are though.
But Stumps, Siphon 8 Training Center, or Lemoore? Those are no fun.

Why would anyone be jealous of California?
What exactly am i supposed to be jealous of?

Because other people do it. You know how the masses are. They like or dislike things just because they hear of others who like or dislike it.
