Because it's such a pain in the fricking arse to have to play slalom with all the brothers standing around in the middle of the street just to get to your driveway.

Why don't well off, educated black folks move into Livingston parish meth parks? Are they racist?

If you're looking at it from a pure economical angle, then buying a lot in the ghetto for 10,000 then building a house makes a lot more sense than spending 100,000 on a lot in a gated community then building that same house.

Where do the black families that move to better neighborhoods fall into this discussion?

Human beings make rational decisions. They see where the Social Pathology is that they think will harm their safety, security and quality of life, and they avoid it. Only a Fundamentalist Liberal would view Rational Thinking as evidence of "racism".

I definitely do. That's my point, after you built it in the ghetto it would be worth less because no one wants to live there. Yet, is wrong to admit it.

Can Anyone in this thread provide the actual definition of racist?
i think the current definition involves beliefs of discrimination of a dominant race against a marginalized race. institutional racism is the pervasive treatment of this marginalized race throughout society (even by its own race)

I send my kids to private school.
I grew up in Mamou and was the only white guy on a basketball team. A team full of my friends. Dealing with races in school helped to make me who I am today.
My kids go private because of two basic reasons:
1 public schools have been duly bed down to the lowest common denominator
2 I want my kids to learn about how to live a virtuous life even while they are at school another thing public schools won't teach.

No one admits to being racist and its frowned upon, but yet why is there private schools when there are public schools kids can attend for free? And why is there not people moving into the hood and building nice houses on cheaper land instead of gated communities?
Didn't I read on this very website reports about how gentrification is harming black people in these low income neighborhoods? Something about these evil white hipsters coming in, cleaning up the area, and pricing the low income people out so they are having to move elsewhere.

Ok, explain the economics part.
The middle class gets priced out of the good areas of a growing city. They don't want to live in the bad areas which happen to be full of minorities, so they move to the suburbs. Self-serving race pimps scream racism. Ignorant assholes then push for idiotic ideas like "affordable housing" for layabouts which spread the bad areas around even more. The remaining good areas are then even more expensive, exacerbating the trend.
