Why isn't there one in Pearl, MS off I-20?

They had one planned in Baton Rouge on I-12 at Millerville, but the property flooded significantly during the 2016 flood, causing Buccees to reconsider the project and ultimately scrap it

Was the excuse because
quote:

there was some interference from then Governor Edwards as well as multiple local politicians who were soliciting bribes from Buccees in exchange for allowing the project to go through.

This isn’t allegedly. They wanted Buccees to redo Millerville and the I12 exits and on-ramps. Red lights, pavements, everything. When the flood happened they told the city to pound sand.

Love it or hate it the place is a huge boom economically which would’ve been great for the city.

The real question is why no Buc-ees in Oklahoma. They sit right above TX and have zero and still none announced. AR has one being built along with the two in LA. What did the state of OK do to the Beaver?

A contact that works at Buccees on the expansion team directly told me state officials were trying to dictate specific contractors to use as well. Buccees told them they do not play that shite and moved on to other states

The first one out of Texas was supposed to be built on Millerville exit. But the flood screwed that up

No, they don’t. At least not good for one’s health… at all.

Well, no.

I like Love’s too. If the goal is just a quick trip for fuel and bathroom, I’ll choose them over Buccees every time.

Top notch fresh cooked foods. Gas, and anything else needed. Why stop anywhere else if given the choice?

Even if it's busy, what's an extra 2 minutes.
So you'll be the loser stopping at a dirty chevron with a restroom key tied to a 2x4, and dirty broken urinals.

No thanks

is no coincidence that Buccees announced their Lafayette area store right on the heels of Landry's inauguration. If there is one remotely positive thing that Louisianaians are getting out of Landry's time in the Governor's Mansion, it's a Buccees.

Ruston location was announced in 2022 long before Huey P Landry

They pulled out of BR because the government expected Buc-ee’s to pay for all the road improvements. Whereas other places throw incentives at them.

State learned their lesson and we will soon have two locations.

Maybe Louisiana just sucks that much. Maybe corruption. I don't know, but maybe because I can actually get something better to eat from most gas stations sround here that serve food than Buccees. Who knows

Louisiana has a lot more money and population compared to bordering states not named Texas.

The original plan was to open the first one not in Texas in Lafayette. The owner got pissed when right before construction was supposed to start Louisiana politics or better yet certain people with their hands out wanted more. Baton Rouge area was next then that fell through. Owner got pissed and at one time said he would never put one in LA. I guess he finally relented. This was coming from someone who knew Arch.

Your opinion of their food and mine are a little different. It's fine, not exactly top notch.

Stopping at that place adds a minimum 45 minutes to a drive.

I'll give you the bathrooms are nice. But not worth all the hoopla.

Same. The one time I've been it was so crowded it wasn't worth the trouble. Last time I passed by the one on the way to the beach my wife asked me to stop and I said hell no. Place was a total zoo.

The one at the gulf shores exit is always busy, but it was ridiculous this past weekend. I told my wife that I want to stop at the new on the way back but I’m afraid to now lol
