I can tell you from experience that some horses have preferences. I will not speculate on what caused the preference. But I assure you its real.

You start this thread on June 9th, the 44th anniversary of Secretariat's Belmont win?

I've said this before, but if the "no kill" crowd knew how fricked up Mexican processors were they'd beg the USDA and Crown and Cavel to resume activities in the US.

I think it's because horses are perceived as being intelligent enough to know what's about to happen to them at the slaughter house. You would have to fool them into thinking you were only going to give them a shower or something, See where I'm going with this Dr Mengele.....I mean BamaHater. Our society draws the line at cows and pigs when it comes to large animals. I think it preserves the moral image we have of ourselves as a society. Cows and pigs go quietly.

frick does this mean

It means whatever the fvck I want it to mean, big guy... and that is the fact that horses worked their asses off for humans for centuries and counting and they've reached the elite animal status of not being eaten unless circumstances are dire. Go eat you some horse if you want some, and chop up some dog, cat and hamster while you're at it. I'll stick to deer, steak, buffalo, shrimp, chicken, fish, lamb, pork, goat, and anything goddamned else other than horse meat.

Clear things up for you?

I completely agree.

It would at least be regulated here.

But...

Drugs again.

It surprises people when I say that because I'm so active in tb aftercare and rehoming but things are so brutal for the ship down and the kill. Heartbreaking.

My neighbors gets pissed off if somebody gets on him with spurs. He acts stupid, tries to bite the end of your boot off, and is just generally pissy. Take the spurs off and he's happy as can be

Good horses are awesome. Wild ones are workers for the devil.

For me, my brother had a horse when I was growing up. My aunt has always had horses and still has horses.. I think they are intelligent animals that you connect with.. like we do with our dogs (for some people, their cats) so the idea of eating them doesn't really seem humane.

Like I said, that is just my opinion. Cows really don't serve much of a purpose other than providing meat & milk. So why eat horse, when there are other options available?

I ate a lot of horse meat when I lived in Mongolia. I thought it was pretty tasty. Those horses were not majestic, personable creatures. I felt the same eating them as eating the goats and pigs. The camels tasted good too.

Horses have very distinct personalities akin with dogs. The more humanlike a creature is, the less I wanna eat it.

Horse is a specialty here in Sicily, and I tried it for the first time last night. Let me tell you, it was delicious.

The horses here are raised for consumption, so they aren't taking losers from the track and bringing them to your dinner table.
