I mean, there is a bond that forms. So... Kinda? I do guarantee that there are horses that only a select few can ride well.
that is actually what I figured. I was asking if a horse really gets attached to an individual like a pet or what....of course I was telling them that they were all full of shite when they told me that they do get attached to certain people.

They really do. My horse knows my voice and will "yell" at me if I take too long to get to his stall.
He'll also follow me around, kinda like a dog. And I treat him like a dog

The last town I lived in had a horse butcher and I tried it a few times. I made horse chili first which wasn't too bad. Then I made horse steaks which were pretty damn good. Very lean so it would be easy to overcook them.

Yeah, lean is a way to describe them. I would describe it as well done beef, but that's probably because my horse steaks were overcooked.

because people only eat horses when they can't plow fields with them or ride them places. aka in times of war
because we've hardly ever had war at our doorstep we never developed a taste for horse

I thought it had something to do with a closed hoof. Everything we eat has a split hoof. There are enough wild hogs out there to feed the nation for years.

My boss owns 4 horses. She said she's open to selling it for meat when they did because otherwise, she has to pay a ridiculous burial fee to the state for several hundred dollars.

Gotta ship live to either Mexico or Canada.
There's also that whole drug thing, again. Which everyone but the vet has ignored.

Id rather try cat or dog first
Really? I'd eat horse all day before I ate a dog or a cat.

Our country was built on the back of the horse. It just ain't right. Same with our dogs.
And guns. Many parts of our history have a huge impact on how we act today.
That said, I'd let a Cajun or a frog cook some up for me. I'll try pretty much any animal except armadillo.

Horse meat is delicious. People are stupid.

Because, like dogs and cats, humans frequently develop close relationships with their horses. It feels weird to eat that kind of an animal.

If you want to try some, make friends with some tongans or samoans. They cook horse all the time.
Its way too tough for me without very much flavor, but it's usually the older ones they buy that are about to be put down or turned into dog food and glue
