WAITRESS: I'm sick and tired of you coming here and insulting the food.

W.C. FIELDS: My dear lady I didn't insult your food. I merely said I haven't seen that old horse that used to be tied up outside.

means whatever the fvck I want it to mean, big guy... and that is the fact that horses worked their asses off for humans for centuries and counting and they've reached the elite animal status of not being eaten unless circumstances are dire. Go eat you some horse if you want some, and chop up some dog, cat and hamster while you're at it. I'll stick to deer, steak, buffalo, shrimp, chicken, fish, lamb, pork, goat, and anything goddamned else other than horse meat.

Clear things up for you?

If you've been to Central Europe, or more likely Eastern, you've probably eaten horse in a form of sausage, lunch meat, or wurst.

The Germans (and Swiss) are pretty forthright about it, and make sure to tell Americans. The Czechs, etc....not so much.

All told, we've used a lot of different animals for centuries to advance human progress. A random horse in America isn't going to be fit or good to eat, for many aforementioned reasons, but there's no reason they aren't potential meat animals, beyond a cultural hang up.

I imagine it wouldn't be much different from goat meat, which is ridiculously delicious imo

What kind of American would even ask that question. Go live in Russia where you can find canned horse meat easily, commie.

Anyone that's ever owned or spent time around horses understands that sentiment.

Back in about 2002-2003 I was doing a lesson on e-commerce with my sophomore Economics class. This was just when the internet was really taking off as far as being able to purchase items online. I made a list of various weird items for the students to research that you could buy online. One of the things I found that you could buy was frozen horse steaks from South America. Now at this time our school internet was wide open with no filters or firewalls. So I give this list of items for the students to research and one girl in the class goes to the website "horsemeat.com" looking to buy the horse steaks. Lol. You can bet I never made that mistake again after seeing the look on her face while she was staring at some 12" schlongs on that computer monitor.

for what it's worth, my wife who has had horses her whole life once told me that the US outlawing horse slaughterhouses was bad for horses.

I ate horse sausage in Potsdam, Germany. Can confirm it tastes pretty good and washes down well with a cold pint.

I've had it several times. It's a lower tier meat for sure. Really comes down to the sauce it's served with.

Horses are raised for food in Iceland. Horse tenderloin is excellent.
