Pigs are intelligent , but only use that intelligence for a single purpose , finding food, those kept as pets do not form bonds as dogs do, any connection a pig may exhibit toward you is because the pig has. Identified you as a source of food..

I honestly struggle with it on a minor level... but it's like this...
The meat at the grocery store has already been slaughtered, and it's really tasty. So, I think it would be a dishonor/disservice to the swine if we just let their bodies go to waste. Better it fuel me for a day than have it go in the dumpster.
Besides, if I decide to go down that rabbit hole the only end result is to be an unhealthy miserable vegan.

Exactly. If you somehow get knocked out in a pig pin, I'd bet money there would be no more you; but, if you get knocked out in your dogs pin, you'll probably just get licked in the face and possibly laid on.
Animals that aren't exactly friendly by nature don't make good pets.

I know a guy with a pet pig and its awesome. It is house trained and has a ton of personality. He lights up when he gets home from work and loves to get petted like a dog.
Their personalities are very much like dogs. Playful, loyal, smart, etc.
They are not going to defend their owners by any means and aren't great at taking commands like a dog, but they are smart nonetheless.
