Why is okay to eat pigs but not dogs?

Why do we care about whether people hurt dogs but turn a blind eye when pigs are slaughtered by the millions? Is it because they are smarter? Because that's not true. Is it because dogs are capable of feeling an immense amount of pain? Because pigs can also feel pain. Is it because dogs are capable of love? Because pigs are also capable of love.

It's a cultural preference that has become blended into our relative morality.
Also I've always kind of assumed that western cultures only eat land herbivores. From the water we'll obviously eat carnivores.

Dogs arent just some animal out there. They are human creations built by man for man. Dogs have a part of their brains that light up when dealing with other dogs, a part that lights up when dealing with all other animals, and a separate part that lights up when dealing with humans.
