What exactly is the group of realtors trying to sway in their favor?

Better question is why are our lawmakers accepting bribes?

Based on recent events, Blue Cross should’ve spent more of that in Louisiana.

Lobbying should be considered a treasonous act, especially when done by ex politicians. It's bribery in everything but name.

Yes the realtors spend a lot to make sure they can collude, but anyone else find it funny that if you combine the industries, healthcare has over $107 Million on lobbying costs?

Blows me away that lobbying is legal in the first place.

Get rid of that and put in term limits, and I think you get rid of a lot of the corruption. Will never happen though unfortunately.

I would imagine that’s lobbying at every level of government rather than just federal.

At the state level is where they derive their control, how their licenses have authority. Access to MLS in LA is reserved for Realtors, and associates that also pay dues, not licensed real estate agents. There are typically state level tax incentives such as historic rehabs (available at the fed level as well) that are selling points to drive sales.

At the federal level, they are lobbying for things that increase sales like deductions (rental property), credits, interest rates, etc. Housing laws all go through them as well.

Real estate is a huge industry, they are the pimp.

Lastly, the whole nature of real estate sales is selling yourself. I work with lots of them and they spend more than they make. General rule of thumb is their vehicle will be within 10% of what they made in revenue last year.

The fact that both of these things would have to pass through the house (Realtor lobby at work there) who all have 2 year terms and spent $5M+ to get into office making less than $200k, makes this virtually impossible.

But it would be the best thing that could happen to this country and have an immediate impact. But when was the last time you heard of any federal law described that way?

This.

And also the 30 year mortgage birthed via NAR efforts.

Big Pharma is #1 if you add them up:

-Pharmaceurical Research & Manufacturers of America: $27 million

-Pharmaceutical Care Management Association: $15 million

-Pfizer Inc: $14 million

-Amgen: $14 million

$70 million (and that’s just from that chart)

That’s why they don’t add them up. They don’t want you to see.

I would guess a combination of construction companies and home improvement companies are also involved in that so they can keep building quick and shitty housing for profits.
