Stop throwing shade, and have the vision to not make a spectacle of this topic, especially on this sight. Besides, some posters prescribe to a different optic, seeing this through a different set of lenses.
... and $350 is quite an eye-opener.

Maui frames are their "weak point" but there are different frames to choose from so if you choose frames not suited to your activities that's on you. There are stronger frames available within Maui.
The best brand for frames is probably Randolph Engineering.
Maui is considered the best at lenses, which is a big deal when sunglasses are supposed to protect your eyes.

Why is “made in America” more expensive than “made in China”?

“It's funny anyone would think sunglasses that will clearly last 10+ years at a few hundred bucks”
If you are able to get a pair of MJ to last 10 years I am impressed..
Optics excellent.. but mine broke in half at the nose bridge piece as I was putting them on after removing from my top shirt pocket at a restaurant..two years old… granted I had the super light weight style.. but their durability is their weak point .. but fwiw I buy glasses with full rims or metal frames if lightweight ( airplane metal etc) now .

Been wearing MJ’s with prescription lenses for 30+ years. If you visit their website, they provide details on the different shades and lens material options and you can a better understanding of what you’re paying for. You’re paying for the lenses.
Yeah, they are expensive, especially since they exploded in popularity but they have always had my prescription dialed in, even with progressive bi-focal lenses. Never had an issue.

I retired my vintage Ray Bans last year (bought 1987) for prescription sunglasses (only used while driving) I did everything , played any sport and went everywhere with the ray bans. they don't make 'em anymore so I put them out to pasture before the plastic bits started to crumble away. worth every bit of the $70 I paid.
I do need some non prescription sunglasses that will stay on a big head while playing racquet sports and maybe golf.

If you are going to be out in the sun a ton, it’s worth protecting your eyes, especially if you have lighter colored eyes. I will pay more for a reputable brand that I know is providing good eye protection.

I’ve had my pair of Maui Jim’s for at least 15 years now. The frames did crack once when I had them on my head and bumped them on a door frame but other than that they have held up well. Sent them in and paid $50 or $60 to get the frame replaced.

There are plenty of styles around $200, in fact some of the popular MJ styles are listed at $189.
Yes, there are some that reach about $350 after tax, but also cheaper styles.

Lenses don’t hold up nearly as well as costa’s.

My sunglasses go through hell every day. I used to go through a pair of poly lenses a year.
What is missing in all the replies is the difference between plastic and glass lenses. My current pair of Costas with 580g glass lenses are going on 5 years strong, and I just put the first visible scratch on them a month ago, and it's not even a big scratch.
Because of the scratch resistance of glass and its excellent clarity compared to plastic, I'll never go back, and unless things have changed since I last looked, none of the budget-friendly brands offer glass lenses, or I'd give them a try.
But $300 for a pair of plastic lenses? Absolutely not. I'll take the Shady Rays before I piss away that money.

I’ve been wearing knockarounds this summer. I find them a bit nicer than the shady rays I’ve had.

You can buy great sunglasses for $30. Don't be fooled by name brand inflated pricing
Clearly none of these posters have shopped at Costco and got a pair of Kirkland sunglasses. Which usually are made in Italy for 25 dollars

I felt the same way about Costa’s until I splurged and bought a pair.
Haven’t worn anything else since.

I heard costa sold out and quality is not as good, Maui seem to be really nice someone told me to try smith I think. Or what ever company uses the old costa lense factory

Maui Jim customer service always been amazing for replacement of glasses. The few pair of Oakleys I’ve had in my life fall apart, and are crap v. MJ.
My Sunglass Hut pet pieve- SH now owns Rays Bans. So - they’re about eight cabinet sections of Ray Bans versus eight small rows of Maui Jim in the back of any store. I no longer go to Sunglass Hut because of this.

Don't buy them.
Optics are the best out there, they'll replace them for like $60 3 years after you buy them. The lightweight frames weren't great, but their regular frames are excellent. Not the best for track use as they're all polarized. All other uses they are superior.
Suggest you avoid the brand.

I love my Maui Jim sunglasses. They have been reliable for casual daywear and fishing for 10 years.
