Here’s the problem: I’ve done that. She realizes she’s the problem here and surprisingly cool with this tactic. Save for politics, she’s not in denial about much. And if it’s one of her events, I just follow George’s strategy in not giving a frick about that.

Mine and my mother both have this thing where they arrive in the parking lot “on time” but then spend 10+ minutes futzing around with whatever. Or they’ll show up right when we’re supposed to be leaving and claim to be “on time” then spend 15 minutes finishing getting ready.


But my favorite is when they tell me my schedule is wrong. Like in their mind driving up to the Alex Box parking lot 60 seconds before first pitch is perfectly fine, even though they know I want to have already been seated for that.

It's because they are selfish.

I’m always anyplace at least 10 minutes prior to the time I’m supposed to be there.

Not that hard to be on time. Just takes proper planning. People who are late all the time are basically telling you they don’t respect you at all.

I just invented a theory. Literally came up with this a minute ago.

Maybe it's that men traditionally have been the breadwinners in society. They have to be on time and meet deadlines. Men have traditionally been under the gun with the pressure of making sure he's on time and meeting deadlines so that he keeps his job and can continue to put food on the table for his family.

So to men, being punctual is extremely important.

Women, traditionally, haven't been the breadwinners. The concept of being on time and meeting deadlines hasn't been part of most women's lives, so they don't take being punctual as seriously.

And even though more women these days are breadwinners, women grew up emulating their mothers, who grew up emulating their mothers, etc, so the concept of punctuality still isn't as important to women even though they've become a larger percentage of the workforce than in the past.
