Its almost like the folks who can take care of themselves shockingly have the means to do so.

Today I learned toothpaste, floss, and a brush are expensive, as is opting for water instead of soda.

Why don't you f'n learn to read.

My question is: if you are poor, and especially if you are poor with kids, why aren't you even MORE diligent about taking the 5 minutes in morning and at night to do what is necessary to prevent dental issues in your mouth and your children's mouth.

These are the big three. A lot of it is diet and bad habit related but some people are just plain predisposed to carries and will develop problems even with impecable dental hygiene practice. The bacteria that cause problems prefer acidic environments, giving them sugars and an acidic home by drinking soft drinks and fruit juices coupled with not going to a dentist to get an exam and cleaning regularly just asks for problems. My fiancée is a dentist so I get to hear her stories about patients almost daily, I also have more toothpaste (even prescription strength stuff), floss, and various mouthwashes than I'll ever use. Lately she gave me a few bottles of Carifree rinses to try out, the maintenance rinse is good but the two-part treatment rinse is gross...

Its not just dental care. Even if they brushed regularly, would still get cavities from the shite they eat.

Got people walking around with a blood sugar of 350 drinking mountain dew by the liter

The better question to ask is "Why is dental care so expensive?"

Routine dental cleanings go a long way. That small filling prevents a big problem.

Poor people can’t afford cleanings or minor work so they end up with major issues and ultimately no teeth down the line.

Having worked in public state hospitals, I can say many patients had very few teeth.

A lot of dental problems are genetic. Some people have bad teeth.

And yes, they also pair it with bad hygiene, which exacerbates the problem.

Are you really wondering why people who can’t afford to go to the dentist have the worst teeth?
