Congrats man. The Asheville area in N.C. is one of my favorite visits.

I sincerely hope you find what your looking for bud.

Could have shortened it to Sports, Hunting, fishing, NOLA. Just about everything you listed falls into those four categories...which is kind of depressing when I think about it.
I listed why I love the state. I’m not forcing you to do what I do.

Over the past 5 years my wife and I have visited Chicago, San Diego, Phoenix and Vegas.

Damn, that's it?

I've been to Chicago, Phoenix, Vegas, Denver (twice), St. Louis, Memphis, Santa Fe, San Antonio, Gulf Shores, Biloxi, Houston, Chattanooga, Augusta, and Roswell in that time. I would have gone to a lot more places, but I've been pretty strapped for cash, otherwise I would have taken a bunch of other trips, namely one to Salt Lake/Grand Tetons/Yellowstone, one to Baltimore/DC, Nashville, L.A./San Diego, NYC/Boston, Portland/Seattle.

It’s amazing to me how everyone who doesn’t live in the state is somehow an expert on it. How long have you been gone Rouge? You seem to know what’s going on day to day here?

Funny how everyone that lives in Louisiana loves this thread but everyone who doesn’t pissed off.

It’s amazing that you guys are upset that we like where we live.

It consumes their lives so much they can’t even enjoy their own state

No I just listed the heavy hitters

Veto Beach, Nashville, Knoxville, Little Rock, Houston, Dallas and we went to Denver for an Avalanche game.

Also I’ve traveled for work to different areas but I don’t really count that.

GREAT POST! Thanks to you I will put Russels Marina on me and my husbands date list. We love trying places to eat we’ve never had. We’ve been to Blue Crab quite a few times. Nice to know something else is worth trying in that area. We try to venture out of Baton Rouge each weekend so if anyone has more places you think we can try let me know. Waterfront preferred but not necessary :)

I just thought it was funny that his rebuttal to people saying that he should get out more is that he's been to 4 different states over the last 5 years

ETA: I live in Louisiana, for what it's worth. I acknowledge that it has it's positives and negatives.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

If you actually went out and explored the areas while there I think you should count that. If you just stayed in the hotel and at your work site, not so much.

My wife and I have moved several times for her job training and we've actually been happy at all stops. All have had pros and cons, you just have to focus on the good stuff- which is what you're doing here. Overall, we love visiting La. but prefer to live a quick flight away. Not to nitpick but many places have great bass fishing and you can have sacks of crawfish shipped anywhere in the U.S.

The only one I had time to explore was Portland. I went to San Francisco but flew home ASAP. My wife was 8 mo pregnant so I wanted to be there just in case.

Have a good day bud.

Absolutely! Try it.

The other guys were right though, that gumbo looks like doo doo. Just got lazy because it was around 1030 when I posted it.

I like a lot of the things you posted. However, I can get a lot of those and not deal with shite schools and some of the worst politics in the country by living in a state like Florida.

Which funny enough, going to a better state (Florida) ended up being one of your favorite things about Louisiana.

You can get most of that in other states, save for the great fishing. Plus, other states are far more scenic, clean and less crime ridden.

This is my thing. I love Louisiana. But im scared to leave because I think I'll realize how bad it really is.

Before I left Louisiana I was counting the days until I would be able to move back.
Since being gone and realizing how bad it really is, I don’t know if I’ll ever go back.

i grew up in LA, lived there for about 20 years and love some of what it has to offer. that being said, this post and most of what people stick around for amounts to: food, drinking, sports and hunting/fishing.

there's so much out there besides those four things and i feel most Louisianan's should get out and explore/travel more. that's pretty hard to disagree with despite how defensive that statement might make some people.
