I listed why I love the state. I’m not forcing you to do what I do.
I guess I missed your point bc when you say what you said below, sounds like you are trying to suggest Louisiana has so much to offer.
quote:
My point is- Louisiana has an incredible amount to offer, there’s an extremely rich culture and history in our state and there are plenty of opportunity’s to see and do great things here.
But when I go through your very long posts, it’s clear if you didn’t go to LSU and don’t care to hunt/fish, they only thing Louisiana has to offer is NOLA.
I don’t disagree, I’m from NOLA. But to make a grand attempt to show what Louisiana has to offer, you missed the mark.

I didn’t post every single thing to do in the state of Louisiana.
I for sure focused on Hunting, Fishing, Food, LSU and New Orleans but those are “Why I call Louisiana Home”
That’s like saying “well you wouldn’t live there if it didn’t have all those things” well no shite.

Nah man, it's fricked up you didn't post all the things he likes to do

Nah man, it's fricked up you didn't post all the things he likes to do
There’s shite to do but you have to get off your arse and go do it. Or you can move to Texas and post on a Louisiana website all day about how you hate Louisiana.

Dude. You specifically outlined your intent. And that was to illustrate all the things Louisiana has to offer. You even started the statement by saying, “this is my point”
My opinion is you did a poor job of making your point. It’s not a criticism of Louisiana. It’s a criticism of your post.

I notice you didn't post any pictures of the terrible traffic, failing public schools, or crumbling infrastructure
1. I love in Metairie. The traffics not bad at all. Traffic in New Orleans is 10x better than Atlanta, Dallas or Houston.
2. Public schools aren’t good. You got me there. We plan on sending all of ours to private catholic schools.
3. How would I post a picture of a crumbling infrastructure?

quote:Agree 100%. To each his own. Our parents are probably the biggest pull now that we have a little one. It’s nice to have all of our family Over on Wednesday’s and go to church with my grandmother and visit my grandfathers grave when I want.
My wife and I have moved several times for her job training and we've actually been happy at all stops. All have had pros and cons, you just have to focus on the good stuff- which is what you're doing here. Overall, we love visiting La. but prefer to live a quick flight away. Not to nitpick but many places have great bass fishing and you can have sacks of crawfish shipped anywhere in the U.S.
I understand that most of my life is about Family, Work, Food, Sports and Hunting and Fishing. The state fits me and my wife loves it here.
We live in Metairie- the construction industry is booming here (as it is everywhere else right now) and my wife has an offer for a Well Baby Physcian at the Nursery at Touro that she might take.
We’re just happy man and I love where we live. I don’t see that as a negative.

Born and reared in Baton Rouge. Multiple degrees from LSU. Been here 40+ years. My and my wife's relatively small families are here. Make a great living due to the chemical industry. Blessed in many ways and could certainly have done worse.
While I've done pretty much everything you can do from an outdoorsman's perspective here -- I'm not an outdoorsman. I hate the heat and humidity and Louisiana has that in spades. I love tailgating with friends, but hate the crowds you have to fight to get to or leave Tiger Stadium. Maybe I'm just getting too old for it.
I've traveled quite a bit. Weather is a lot nicer in many other places. North Carolina. San Diego. Hell, I can tolerate Arizona's dry heat better than good ole Louisiana where you don't really experience all seasons.
Things are cleaner elsewhere, in general. Whether it's because our climate easily damages infrastructure or our ground is just too mushy to build long-lasting roads, relative to most other places we suck.
Mardi Gras sucks. Crowds. Drunken idiots. Strange smells on Bourbon Street. Thieves. I can see tits on PornHub.
Politicians suck. New Orleans is dirty. Outside of LSU sports, there's not a lot to do here.
What's funny is I realize I'm writing a lot of negatives but I don't really feel that negatively about where I live. I don't hate it. I just accept it for what it is but recognize that there are better places to be for a non-outdoorsman who doesn't like extreme weather. Without a doubt I will retire elsewhere and won't think twice about it. Nothing personal, just doing me.

I graduated high school in 1984. I didn't apply myself much, but I worked a lot with my dad doing construction. I had a job offer for a roust-about company when I was 16 or 17, saying they would hire me as soon as I turned 18. I went ahead and took the job, mainly because I was tired of school and ready to work. When things fell apart in the oil industry, 1886, the company I worked for went bankrupt, so I found myself unemployed. The tire plant and paper mill in Natchez went under, and I just couldn't find work anywhere. I ended up in the Army, sent to Germany, while my dad got transferred to Des Moines (tire plant). I just never made it back to LA, but my heart and soul is rooted in LA and it's culture. I will always love LSU, and I am very proud to tell everyone that I was born and raised in Bayou Country. I have my dream career here in Georgia now, and I don't see myself moving back but I am forever Coonbilly.

Cool pictures. Sure, Louisiana has some fun activities, good food, and it’s where most of us grew up. Louisiana still ranks horribly in education, infrastructure, health & fitness, quality of life, wages, quality of life for families, healthcare, opportunities, etc etc etc.
Few questions:
1. Does that change our overflowing prison system?
2. Does it change that New Orleans is dirty and trashy and looks like Somalia at night? Last time I walked downtown at night, I was never happier to have a concealed carry permit and was packing.
3. Does it change that you have to send your kid to private school to avoid a good stabbing? Nice extra $500-$600 a month
4. Does it change that generally wages rank among the bottom of the country despite the cost of living being about average in the country? Look it up.
5. Does it change the litter? Look around
6. Does it change that your only job opportunities are plant baw, or offshore oil baw?
7. Does it change that politicians pander to particular demographics of people who keep electing walking jokes as representatives?
8. Does it change that our insurance ranks among the highest in the country because 18 year olds get back from their 2nd hitch roustabout’ing and DWI-crash that 60k Silverado they bought after the first hitch?
9. Speaking of insurance; how about that flood insurance?
10. Does it change that generally all those women you posted pictures of will be cows in a few years because almost everyone in the state is fat?
Football, fishing, food, and big ol tiddies are cool but every single state in the United States has these.

No thanks..........I left Louisiana and moved to Colorado a few years ago and I would never even consider moving back to Louisiana.
You don't realize just how fricked up Louisiana is until you move out of it.

Born in New Orleans (went to Ganus).
Lived most of my life outta state.
Wife is from Pineville area.
There are things about "home" that simply can not be duplicated anywhere.
The culture and history is unique and vital to making America.
I miss it greatly but when I go back I see and experience things I wouldn't want to deal with.
Food, music, culture, etc. are all great reasons to miss it there but I'd have to say Louisiana's people are what makes it awesome.
O.P. was great. Thanks
