Too hot and humid.

New Orleans
I am sure they though about it until they figured out everything under the sun would be stolen.

Then no one would know where the events would be as someone would end up stealing the signs.

What are they going to have?
Dodge pot holes on Old Gentilly in New Orleans East on bikes?

Swimming on a flooded street in New Orleans East does not count as a pool.

Bullet dodging, is not a sport at this time.

And the airport? Could that airport ever have handled Olympic type traffic?

They had the special Olympics in BR in the early 80’s.

I attended the closing ceremonies as a friend had a child that participated in the event.

They had so many participants fall out from heat exhaustion, I even got on the field at tiger stadium to help out.

It just too hot and humid for some of these participants that are not use to our climate.

Driving through East New Orleans in November made me wonder how they even have tourism anymore. The airport is total shite too which makes hosting global games a little difficult? Maybe everyone could fly into Atlanta and take a bus there…

New Orleans hosted the 1992 Track n Field US Olympic Trials at Tad Gormley Stadium. 2 weeks in June as the heat and humidity were brutal. Most track events during mid-day had to be re-scheduled at night. The field events (javelin, hammer, and shot put) were a cluster because the field was artificial turf. Shot and hammer would bounce and roll instead of sticking leaving an impression in the ground. Javelins didn’t always “stick” and the improvised wooden planks under the turf started to buckle and warp from the heat & humidity.

Reebok spent $25M marketing Dan vs Dave decathlon. Dave O’Brien shite in the bed by no-heighting in the pole vault and failed to qualify for Barcelona.

Officials loved the food, drinks, and hospitality. Athletes hated it as it will never be hosted in NOLA again.

New Orleans did host the US track and field tryout for the 92 games.

I was watching with my dad in a club with buffet line. I was walking with my plate and my head down and ran right Craig Iron Head Heyward and fell down. This monstrous man grabbed me, propped me back in my feet and said “sorry about that little man.”

Was a true brush with greatness.

If you thought that the Atlanta Olympics were corrupt, well..
If New Orleans hosted the Olympics, the amount of grifting, graft and corruption would be unprecedented.
Also, the Olympic charter designates that the main stadium be an open air stadium, so another one would have to be built.

Probably because NOLA smells like piss and weed and the heat is suffocating in the summer. Plus the multiple murders that would occur would be bad for ticket sales.

White water rafting on some of the streets in NOE after a heavy rain would be golden.
The contestant would have to go around the cars stuck in the road.

Exactly, NO is well set up for events that can be localized to a fairly small area. The Olympics requires a huge footprint. America would pour the money in to make it happen, but NO is also pretty aesthetically unappealing once you get out to the spaces you’d need to facilitate a lot of the events.
