I had extreme arm soreness, mild headache and slight malaise from the first. Get my second in two weeks. My parents had no side effect from either. My brother had nothing from the first, felt like a hangover from the second.

People who have already had covid make up the bulk of folks getting wrecked by the shot.
All three individuals that I know who got wrecked by the first shot had recovered from Covid about 6 to 8 weeks prior. I know of no one else who became actually sick from the shots.

don't they recommend waiting 3 months after recovery to get the vaccine because of this?

2nd dose (moderna) was a lot harder on me, but nothing that bad.

I’m dead serious that you do not need the second dose

with that said, I honestly have no idea why you wouldn't get the 2nd dose if you already got the 1st
Maybe the chance of missing work if you can’t afford it. According to your report, the additional protection seems almost negligible though I really have read it in to much depth yet.

That's what I thought too. One of the individuals works in health care and said the CDC had just revised the rule down to 8 weeks. I don't know why these individuals rushed right into getting their vaccines, but I would have waited longer.
Someone mentioned shingles earlier, and I will say that I have a relative who developed shingles about a month after the second Pfizer shot. He has had a prolonged illness and been going through treatments for cancer prior to getting his shots, so his immune system isn't the best.

Schedule it on a Friday afternoon?

I believe the projected benefit is lengthened immunity

quote:Having side effects after the second shot shows that it is working and your body is having the correct immune response after the first dose. A fever is not caused by an infection, but your body fighting the infection. That doesn't mean it's not working if you don't feel any effects, everyone's immune system is different.
So basically the 2nd shot proves it is working? Does everyone actually need and second shot or not?
The second dose is like a tune up session for your immune system. Think of it like this: Dose 1 is Joe Brady installing the offense in the fall. Dose 2 is Game 1 against Georgia Southern, live action under the lights but doesn't really pose any threat. It's a chance to work out the kinks against real competition prior to Texas.
LSU comes out guns blazing and kicks the shite out of them, and you know the offense is legit.

Some HS kids with access to card stock and a printer are fixing to make bank if this actually comes to fruition.

That's a great way to put it.

Was told by person administering the shot and have read that persons over 55 typically have less severe side effects to the second shot versus someone younger because someone in the 20s/30s/40s have a stronger immune system and response.
We shall see on April the 12th

Had my second Moderna yesterday. Feeling a little crappy, but not too terrible.

Either I’m a massive vagina or that 2nd dose isn’t fricking around.
We had over 50 employees out at the hospital after the 2nd moderna for a day or two. Pfizer wasn't nearly as bad in terms of time missed.
