I like Publix for the meats and produce. Prices are high on the non perishables. Kroger has a better variety and selection on non perishables items as well.

I frequent both.

Gas station: we had Wawas up in VA. They were okay, nothing THAT special but of course it beats half the gas stations in LA. Never did try their hoagies. I like Sheetz when I was up there for their gas station food.

People love what they don't have but Louisiana has good grocery options. In BR we have Rouses, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market, Albertsons, Sprouts, Calandros, Alexanders, Calvins, numerous local AG stores and the normal Walmart, Costco, Sam's, Piggy Wiggly, Target, Winn Dixie options you'll find anywhere in the South.

Publix prides itself on its fantastic customer service

They are also about community. I commonly see workers with various disabilities working in some capacity or high school kids etc.

Most chains realize the investment it would take to get into the market and it just doesn’t make sense . Think distribution from the distribution centers . I believe HEB tried lake Charles and pulled out . Louisiana isn’t big enough for most of these companies to build a new distribution hub to support the area

Wawa is just a high end regional gas station with cleaner bathrooms, better employees

When I was in Philadelphia, I loved it.

Well,in Louisiana I think it would be hard for Publix to compete. You have Rouses all over the place. I know people like to give Rouses shite, but I’ve always liked going there.

Probably the same reason we don't have other things: our corrupt politics.

It's a crowded market for our population size. The Real Superstore was tGOAT though

The reason Albertsons went crazy in Louisiana. They put stores everywhere and no one even likes Abertsons.

Eastern portions of La don’t even have Kroger.

The Schwegman's on Sherwood was ahead of its time. That was the biggest grocery store I could ever remember before the Super Walmart concept

Our Kroger is much bigger than the Publix and has a lot bigger selection on everything. Plus I like the gas points.

Publix kind of falls short inventory-wise, in my local prefecture at least. They don't have shrimp ramen or boudin. Kroger has both, and some locations even have head cheese.
