Spanishtown is no longer the last parade in the parish. Shenandoah is having its first Mardi Gras parade on Monday.

Spanish town is too long for that. The real question is, why can’t they run multiple parades on Orion Saturday without the long break like Mystique.

Where are you getting your info from? I doubt this claim but I don’t have any evidence to say otherwise. Galveston and Mobile get way more parade goers than the 100k-200k you claim for Spanish Town but those cities have multiple parades.

Is there someone who tracks single parade attendance during the Mardi Gras season? And separates NOLa from the equation.

Spanish town would be so much better if they put some degree of Mardi Gras pageantry into it. It’s an extremely amateur truck parade that zooms by at 20 mph with drunk people who aren’t in costumes and don’t throw shite.

Spoken like somebody who has no clue about the origins of the Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade. You should've been there when the event first started. It's anything BUT pageantry.

Spanishtown estimate 2023, 200k+

Over the course of two weeks leading up to and including Fat Tuesday, Mobile 1.1 million.

Mardi Gras weekend, Galveston estimated at 350k.

Spanishtown

Mobile

Galveston

Maybe, he’s referencing attendees of a single parade?

I mean there are plenty. br isn't nola. Were proportionate and have a proportionate amount of parades. The ones we have are in set tradition for the appropriate causes and I don't see expanding

Because I’d say a fair majority of the city doesn’t have Mardi Gras day off.

I one time Centaur in Shreveport claimed this title. Late 90s early 2000s.

Yeah. I read that too. That estimate came from the Spanish Town parade president. And everyone ran with it.

After debate, the answer to this question is, because no one cares. No one cares inside of BR. No one cares outside of BR.

Unique things I've caught at Spanishtown: a dildo, a squishy light-up boob, multiple pairs of panties, and a blow-up sex doll. My MiL is a former queen and lives by there, and we have tons of friends in the neighborhood. Always a good time.

You just have to accept that Spanishtown is off-center. It's not trying to be like any other parade. It's its own thing. It used to be downright raunchy, but they've toned it down some over the years.

It was basically a more political themed Krewe Du Vieux before the city neutered it.

Mardi Gras parade in Lafayette
Lafayette is home to the state's second largest Mardi Gras celebration,[37][38][39][40] which includes eight parades of floats and bands during the Carnival season. The first parade, ten days before Mardi Gras, is the celebrity-led "Krewe of Carnivale en Rio Parada", featuring over 600 riders. Parade royalty on Fat Tuesday includes King Gabriel and Queen Evangeline, named for the hero and heroine of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's epic poem; and King Toussaint L'Ouverture and Queen Suzanne Simonet, named for the great Haitian historical leaders. Mardi Gras parades have been an annual tradition in Lafayette since 1934. Recent attendance on Mardi Gras day has been estimated as high as 250,000 by police spokespersons. The first formal Mardi Gras ball and parade in Lafayette dates back to 1869.
