USPS can get fricked.

I routinely have packages delivered to my home ON TIME and with little exception from UPS, FedEx, and Amazon.

And yet, 4 out of 5 packages to be delivered by USPS run into issues. Most notably the "we couldn't access delivery location" note. And calling the post office...yeah good luck with that.

The whole thing needs to be done away with. Let UPS and FEDEX handle it.

I always figured they "attempted delivery" to just help their stats.

Yes. See fast food restaurants and the "can you pull up" directive when there's no one behind you.

They gotta get that time per car avg down.

Last 2 weeks my USPS mail service has dropped done to a trickle. Ran into the supervisor delivering the mail about 6 PM on Saturday while I was cutting the grass. She was not happy, evidently there may be a corona sickout going on at the post office. She also said they are hiring.

I had a package that seemed to have gotten lost in transit somewhere.

Emailed the USPS customer service to ask about it. Sent the email 14-ish days after the item had shipped, which was a week after it was supposed to have been delivered.

Last tracking updates were departing Memphis on the 12th, then four days of date changes of "in transit to next destination."

After sending the email, it was miraculously at my local post office the next morning and delivered that very day.

I'm curious to see if my next two packages, one coming through Memphis, actually make it on time.
This is literally what happened to me. I sent out an order on the 5th of June, it didn't even leave my PO until the 8th, arrived in Memphis on the 11th and stayed in a "in transit" status until it was miraculously delivered on the 24th. The day after I email them about of course.

I don't remember things being this bad. I use USPS constantly for shipping.

They never stopped at my house. The mail person was just being lazy.

USPS sucks.

Na, he either left it at the warehouse by accident, or didn't have room for it/didn't make the cut that day, and then coded it wrong.

I've actually looked. Every day for the past 3 days actually

And what does the tracking say? A lot of times a tag is created somewhere and not dropped off to the post office for a few days

USPS should be declared a domestic terror organization. Their tracking system is aggravating as heck. Last winter I received a love letter that they were unable to deliver and I had to pick it up at the PO.

Me: "Hi, I'm here to pick up this package"
Idiot: "What's it look like?"
Me: "Um I'm not sure, I haven't seen it yet"
Idiot: "What am I supposed to do?"
Me: "Take down the number and go in back and find it???"
Idiot: "I don't know if I can do that"
Me: "Ok yall left the note and didn't deliver it, please go grab it"
Idiot: "Do you have any idea where it's from?"
Me: "no, all I have is a tracking number on your slip of paper"
Idiot: "Well I supposed when the boss gets in someone can look'

This tomfoolery went on for 5+ minutes until someone went in back, probably smoked a cig or two, then came out and told me they couldn't find it.

I waited til shift change and came back, they found it.

We live in Alabama and recently had a package from Amazon shipped via USPS. It took about 3 days to get from California to the Bessemer, AL sort facility. Then it took 4 days to get from Bessemer to our house. WTF? Our post master said she has seen tons of problems with shipments going through Bessemer.

My USPS tracking is generally pretty good. I just got an email saying that a package I ordered last Friday is out for delivery, expected at some point today.

Try out USPS Informed Delivery. It's a free service you can sign up for and they will email you pictures of all the mail you will receive each day. It also tracks packages and allows you to manage delivery.

Pretty useful.

I need to start a business based on their model. I will be a little cheaper than the competitors so people will opt to use me. I will sell services and make promises with no idea how I am going to deliver. I will fail miserably.

If someone complains, I will tell them to go eff themselves. If they get mad and put their hands on me, I will have my cousin put them in the federal pen for a few years.

If they point out that I did not provide the service I charged for, and ask for a refund, I go in the back and laugh at them with my compadres.

Tomorrow, they come back in and pay me for my service on a new job because I am a little cheaper...

So you know to expect your package within 3-15 business days after it says it's delivered.

They certainly do have tracking, if you pay for it.

If you use USPS, you get what you get and you'll like it.

One time I was waiting for a package and was keeping an eye on the tracking on my phone. I was in the living room all day which is near the front door.

All of a sudden I get a tracking update which said something like they tried to drop it off, but nobody answered the door and that I’d have to go to the post office to pick it up.

they did that to me and i was in the driveway working on my truck all day not 20 ft from mailbox

they are beyond crooked with their tracking BS

they also report package delivered and you dont get it until the next day or sometimes 2 days later

my favorite is when fedex delivers to post office so it says delivered handed to customer, then it takes 2-3 days at post office before they actually deliver it to you

Why does USPS even have package tracking

It's a common business model for a struggling business: in an effort to stay afloat against a superior competitor, claim you offer a service like the competitor's, but the service is actually inferior or even useless. You're right, there is no other use for USPS "tracking." In my experience, once shipped, there's no update until after the package has been delivered.
