One was under colonial control for much longer. This means the established Powers traded with them for a much longer period of time abs had better relations, building up infrastructure and economies.

I wish I could post images.

Google

Dominican/ Haiti border trees.

Which system is better for natural resources?

Now the Dominican isn’t exactly a perfect example of free markets, but I believe Haiti is ranked bottom ten on property rights on just about every study.

Economist Bob Murphy has some awesome podcasts and scholarly writings on the topic. He’s the one Ive heard this from.

I don’t know but on the way to The resort in Punta Cana we passed a bunch of shitty shacks with goats roaming around.

Didn’t look like a good economy.

Haiti killed all the white people.

And then established a dictatorship. Followed by corrupt government.

France & the slave owning West were upset that slaves revolted & formed the first Republic ( of former slaves ) in world history. The US & Europe placed an embargo on Haiti & their once profitable sugarcane was worthless.

France demanded 150 million Francs( 21 Billion dollars) " reparations " to recognize Haiti & end the worldwide embargo. Frances entire economy was less than 90 million francs at the time . Haiti spent over 125 years in debt to France & the majority of its income paying France for its lost of slaves during the Haitian revolution.

Yeah Dominican isn’t exactly a great country they just capitalize on tourism in a small section. Haiti isn’t a tourist destination for different reasons. But they are both shite holes.

Because Napoleon was involved in his own country's revolution to get bogged down in Haiti, and he didn't think it would be worth the time nor sweat to establish firm colonization, so the slave population that outnumbered the colonist 10:1 at the time, was able to secure independence, thus the absolute $hithole we have sitting out in the Caribbean today.

I believe Royal Caribbean built a resort in Haiti. Would seem weird to go there.
