This is going to be a stupid thread and stupid question, but why is it that Louisiana seems to get worse and worse with its political leaders? Is it the best we can do? Are we really that stupid and ignorant? Are these politicians really that good at selling themselves? Is it something else?

It just seems like we've been dealing with this for years and years it just amazes me we never learn from these idiots whether they're mayors or governors. I hate this state.

I wasn't old enough to vote yet but we once had to choose between Edwin Edwards and David Duke for governor

And there's way too many soccer moms in suburbia doing stupid shite like being pissed at one candidate fricking whores on his own private time instead of getting pissed at the other guy that likes to frick the taxpayers and hold their jobs hostage.

The 2015 election was some of the dumbest shite ever and it was sad to watch so many conservatives I respected turn into a sky screamers over superficial things that had no impact on their lives and pocketbooks and vote for the guy who raised their taxes and chased their jobs out of state.

I remember the election somewhat but I was too young to understand it. After reading about each of them later they were both were terrible people. Duke was just honest about his ideas. Edwards literally spent time in prison and still has supporters. It’s an easily manipulated population.

I wish nothing but the worst for Scott Angelle.

Alabama says, "Hold my beer"
We've had several recent governors having to resign for numerous things and some have been jailed

We've had like 4 insurance commissioners in a row go to prison. The current one has been awful too but he just got re-elected because he isn't behind bars I guess.

Our state rep for Jeff Davis and Calcasieu parish Troy ROMERO should run for Governor. He would make a GREAT GOV! He has been running small Buisness’s for years all over Louisiana, and he is a real people person and is a Republican who wants things running right now. He seems pretty pissed at Edwards.

Definitely a Klansman (Which is stupid) but I’ve never heard of the mafia ties. I would think Edwards had more mafia ties than he did. He was around way before Duke and at the time of that election the mafia was pretty much all but dead.

Use this last election as an example. The “Republicans” in Louisiana couldn’t pick which rich guy was more loyal to Trump, or more Christian, or was gonna let them keep the guns rights we’ve always had. Pretty sure they would have elected a character from Duck Dynasty if he’d been nominated. The rich guy from North Louisiana didn’t get the runoff, so his constituents acted like the good lil hometown church folk they claim to be and decided to take their ball and go home to stick it back to Rispone. Rispone stood on a national stage like he had Trump’s hand up his a-hole, during an opportunity to make a lasting impression. He stood there like a puppet and smiled.

Meanwhile, JBE bought an entire demographic’s vote on promises of more free shite paid for by a group of anonymous trial attorneys that went by the name “GUMBOPAC”, who agreed to finance the JBE campaign in return for his promise not to support tort reform so these trial attorneys to continue to sue Louisiana businesses and insurance companies. The result of these frivolous lawsuits directly impact the premiums of Louisiana residents, but they couldn’t be bothered to care because someone at the national level was going to take their guns, make them get an abortion, or grab their pussy.

A team of sarcastic, satirical writers couldn’t create a more ridiculous version of Louisiana. That’s why Louisiana in an epic failure, OP.

I remember when Angelle said out loud at a Gubernatorial debate that David Vitter killed hookers and paid local officials to keep quiet and cited some random blog that no one has ever heard of as evidence. Everybody on the stage and audience was like WTF.

I would laugh if that douchebaggery didn't help impose electoral consequences on us.

Angelle actually got the worst a year later, he lost a House race to a YouTube star in Clay Higgins despite having the most money and name recognition possible having ran for Governor a year earlier. That was pure humiliation for him and well deserved after he stabbed conservatives in the back and helped JBE win.

I meant that about Edwards. Poorly worded on my part.
