That was some of the dumbest shite ever and JBE spent a million dollars putting those comments on blast and ended up winning 10-12% of Abraham voters and that made the difference. People in North Louisiana genuinely like Ralph Abraham and Rispone's slander was never going to fly.
And I say that as someone who voted for Rispone.

You don’t know the half of it. In the early 1970’s Baton Rouge and Austin were on the same level. State capitals, home to the flagship university, vibrant bar and music scenes, industry, petrochemicals, etc. Look at them now. Austin is a world class city and Baton Rouge is a backwater. What happened? Edwin Edwards (D).

Yes. Louisiana in aggregate crossed the demographic Rubicon a while back. The average IQ in the state is certainly sub 100 and gets lower every year. Stupidity has reached critical mass and things are not going to get better. Temporary cash infusions from Katrina and Deepwater Horizon masked the problem for a while, but they were akin to putting lipstick on a pig.

I agree. Mississippi will probably be first. Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, South Carolina will be next. You can't have a system where it's largely inconsequential to have children if you are poor and very much so if you are middle class working people.
We are probably 2-3 generations away from this.

I agree with you about JBE.
I was a Rispone voter and I can confidently tell you that Rispone completely fricked up his campaign and was so incompetent he didn't deserve to win.
I'll give you a couple examples here.
1.) For the elections last fall, The LA GOP built a brand new data model that tracked which voters they needed to get to the polls and offered it for free to all of their candidates up and down the ballot which was so successful that the GOP clinched a supermajority in the state Senate and came within two seats of that in the house and won all of the statewide posts outside of Governor.
What did Rispone's campaign do? The turned down the free model and instead bought an outdated 3 year old model from the Trump campaign and spent over 120 thousand dollars for it and that model told them they needed to focus on the sticks while everyone was ringing alarm bells about St. Tammany and Jefferson Parish where JBE already had considerable success in the first round.
2.) The biggest warning sign of trouble during the runoff was that Rispone did not have Ralph Abraham stumping for him in North Louisiana despite having his endorsement and the only events they did together was a couple Trump rallies in North Louisiana and that was it. And even then, they weren't on the stage together at the same time. People noticed.
That was pure malpractice on Rispone's part and left too big of an impression of bitterness towards each other with Abraham voters.
