re: Why do you think that TD is such a magnet for those with alternative beliefs?

From what I can understand, there are people out there when they hear about such theories for the first time, they feel like they have received information that the rest of the world doesn’t know about. They somehow approach it in that particular manner instead of discerning whether or not the theories in question are true at all. And anyone who disputes what they say always seem to be mere products of the MSM in their minds as if that’s an inherently bad thing. I know that the MSM has their controlled narratives, but I fail to see how someone is ultimately more knowledgeable about things in the world going down kooky internet rabbit holes.

Overwhelming amount of people from Louisiana lead to normal thoughts from Louisiana people. Nothing odd about this.

TD is significantly less modded than almost every other forum. Also, because when your post is seen is based on when the post was made, not your upvote/downvote ratio, it allows for views outside of the mainstream to actually be seen.
The reality is that most social media have built in mechanisms that serve (intentionally or unintentionally) to silence or suppress views that conflict with the mainstream and boost the narratives of our mainstream media.

It's pretty well known the IQ levels in Louisiana are low.

TD seems to attract a lot of people with these belief structures, and I'm just curious as to why you think that is?
LSU doesn't attract the best students, example me.
reddit/twitter have gone out of their way to get rid of wrong think. The loons find their way back home.
everywhere else on the internet is too personal to broadcast your loon beliefs

That’s the kind of true statement that would get you banned from most places

That is far from proven.

I would really like to see the data backing this claim.

Everyone has some alternate beliefs. Progressivism, religion, conspiracies.
Its just easier to do it anonymously.

Cause people that think like this:
quote:
if you controlled for race, you would find IQ levels in Louisiana hardly different than Vermont
Are well represented in Louisiana and the Gulf South and they also happen to have a lot of crossover with people like this:
quote:
Things like Creationism, various conspiracy theories, flat earth theories, etc.
And having a well supported Boomer 4Chan, which is basically the political identity home of those ideas is inevitably going to lead to spillover to the rest of the board as those in the echo chamber branch out or seek others to argue with or indoctrinate.
EDIT: Also this
quote:
It's very heavily modded about some things, hardly modded at all about others. Try posting a hand bra pic and see what happens. OTOH post the most whacked out political theory and it probably won't even get moved to the poliboard. And oh yeah about the poliboard...
How things are moderated and who gets moderated(and who doesn't) will very much drive the culture of a board too.

What is your race, flat-earther?

The amount of people who have started questioning things after what we have witnessed being lied to with covid from the highest levels of authority has increased dramatically

The Hillibily state of New England. Good comparison

Is it really a lot of them or are they just the loudest and we remember them because it's funny?

It’s indicative of what you’re seeing in the conservative base at large. The majority of TD posters are conservatives so it would make sense that the new and existing posters have such views.
