re: Why do you prefer small town life ?

Honestly anything smaller than Manhattan is terrible IMO. You can find more privacy on 42nd & 5th avenue than any small town.
Also raising kids in a small town would be hell. Your kid gets any kind of reputation on the 1st day of 1st grade and it sticks with him or her until the last day of HS. There is no starting over.
I also find people who stay in these small towns there while life to be lazy, and envious and will suck the ambition out of you like a vampire

Nah, I just have the balls to state what pretty much everyone else thinks.
I mean do you enjoy living in poor areas with high crime or something?

That's realistic...

I live in the Dallas suburbs so I cannot exactly say I live in an urban setting. I couldn’t deal with lack of museums and other things I love bringing my kids to. I have two young kids and they love the Perot museum for example. Too many zoos, theme parks etc. that they would miss out on

hahahh that's what every dipshit says, when it's not even remotely true.
I live next door to a 76 year old black man who has lived in our area for 3 generations. He is one of the best people i've ever met.

I mean, you were talking about specifically black people. There are plenty of shitty white neighborhoods too. You're just a POS dude, it's cool. Carry on

I don't like people, and there are fewer of them in a small town.
Agreed. I like being near a bigger city so I can get what I need when I want but I want to be able to get away.

No, I was talking about a socioeconomic group. A group that includes african americans, hispanics, whites, and asians.
But of course you immediately jump to black people. Mighty racist of you there baw.

don't blame you a bit. I like the convenience of a small town. I also hate the inconvenience of a small town.
I see you in NY or Chicago. (great food cities)

Not really. I simply have no desire to live around inner city thug culture. Down here in the south it's mainly one group. On the west coast it tends to be another.
Sorry you're so upset about it.

I absolutely despise traffic ! This is my main motivation for living in a more rural setting. I don’t work in the city so there is no need to fight traffic living there.
I do enjoy having some convenience, but not too much that traffic and crowds of people accompany it.
Also my family and myself enjoy being outside and more outdoors types recreation. So we get more out of living closer to the lake than the mall.
Now I will say I do enjoy traveling and experiencing other places and different things. I like going visit places like San Francisco or New York. I just don’t want to live there it’s not for me.

It's a trade off. Keep in mind, these thugs don't live in your neighborhood unless you live in a poor neighborhood. They may break into your car, of course.
Meanwhile, out in the burbs I get suburban overleveraged salt-life guy who cusses out Grayson for being shitty at travel ball and puts in an 80k pool before having to send Grayson to community college on loans.
So, that's not ideal either. I'd say in general, city living is a combination of the best and worst, while suburb/rural living is steady mediocrity. I can see why people select/dislike each.

Goes back to the shitty neighborhood part. Mine is gated.
Posted on 7/2/18 at 12:56 pm to TH03
not many urban neighborhoods are gated
no matter how nice they are

How many black neighbours do you have? Not even most black people like living in a mostly black neighbourhood...
Posted on 7/2/18 at 12:57 pm to Pettifogger
Not everybody wants to live in a cultureless suburb dude. Most city hoods in the south (and everywhere) price out a lot of people.
