Flag, Tent, Chairs, Hats, Yeti Cups...all of those are the same things you would probably bring tailgating...so, why would you buy separate stuff for the beach?
Flip Flops??? You have to make sure you match your flag, tent, chairs, hats and yeti cups, I suppose.

If that triggers you then life must be hard for you.

I find this sort of an amusing Redneck Riviera dynamic, but I can't imagine getting mad about it.
Are you really pissed off that you can't go to Orange Beach and have it look like the Hamptons?

You might think that you're redneck
But I'm rednecker than you

I went to LSU for 8 years and I don’t own an LSU shirt or anything branded LSU. Does that make you happy?

You don’t know.
I have no idea why someone would wear a piece of (insert college) gear, and refuse to acknowledge people who attempt to make conversation based on it.
Why would you even wear it? Why did you buy it?
You want to associate yourself with that college, yet get annoyed when people acknowledge that association? WTF?
BTW, I'm not responding to you directly. Just commenting on the folks in this thread who ignore fellow fans when they try to make conversation.

good stories, OweO! I have a lifelong Aggie friend because of an LSU (and UF) flag. One of the most generous, nicest, insightful friends I could have. And he can drink me under the table.
Myself and a Florida engineer were working at Johnson Space Center and that weekend Rice was hosting Texas A&M in a baseball regional. LSU and UF were both in regionals, but neither of us wanted to drive to Gainesville or Baton Rouge, so we packed my mini-SUV and headed to Rice to tailgate and catch some D-1 baseball. LSU flag on driver's side, UF flag on Tom's side.
We snaked over to Rice Stadium, to tailgate in some shade (on east side), but the spot I wanted was right on the borderline of being too tight of a squeeze vs. enough space. So as I backed in closer, I yelled out to the nearest tailgate "is there enough room for us to fit in?"
An Aggie named Kevin retorted "not with those flags!". Tom and I looked at each other and said.. "well I guess its on now".
We made friends, hung out, shared food, went to the game together, and Kevin and I have been close friends ever since. That was the day Ronald Reagan died, and we all stood in silence with our hats off when it was announced during the game. I just realized that was 15 years ago, and right around this time!

I was in NYC this weekend and saw a dude in an LSU shirt and hat walking throught Times Square. I said "Go Tigers" and he looked at me confused. He looked like what I picture 2/3 of The Rant looks like.

Kids wear their little league or Travel Ball jerseys and hats, teenagers wear their HS jerseys and colors, so it just extends to the adults. I like to stop and talk to other LSU vacationers who show their colors.

I'd be confused also if someone yelled "Go Tigers". Next time try "Geaux Tigers!!"

While you may be right in most cases, I'm just curious: what identity is acceptable to display at the beach?

I dunno, maybe they’re proud of the school they graduated from? Maybe it’s something called team spirit? Team pride? Why the frick does that bother you so much?
