Why do we euthanize pets but not people?

Oregon euthanizes people. A few other states to I think...

It takes a lot more to kill a 150 lbs person than a 8 lbs dog.

Why don't men simply kill each other, then kill the kids of the surviving wife, then mate with her to have your kids survive? We're all animals , right?

Well my point is we are so quick to euthanize sickly animals (ie put down a dog with paralyzed hind quarters) but force a man/woman to live the rest of their lives with no movement below their neck. In most states, the sick person cannot simply go to the doctor and make a request to end their life.
