re: Why do sushi eaters want to force everyone else to eat sushi?

have an open mind.
There are some people who simply will never have an open mind about things like this. There are some people who never got over the "no, I don't want it and I won't like it no matter what" of their childhood. I think their parents probably let them get away with being a picky eater, and because of this they never got over it.
I have met several of these types of people in my life. I do not and can not understand it. They frequently dislike food that they refuse to even try because they know that they wouldn't like it if they did. Which makes no sense. It's the irrationality of a child. And if you do somehow convince them to try something new they will have decided that they don't like it before they even try it. They are just looking for affirmation of their fear to do anything different rather than a new experience.
So much of the enjoyment of life is acquiring new experience, and I will never understand people who want to lock themselves into the same boring rut. Try everything twice, and if it's been a long time try it again just in case your palate has changed. It won't kill you if something tastes unpleasent.

This is where it's at. A chargrilled oyster with garlic and butter and a little parmesan is one of the most delicious things Ive ever eaten. Just phenomenal.

Most of the people I've encountered that don't like sushi haven't been to a good sushi restaurant.

We're lucky enough to have one close by. Sushi, rolls, tempura, Bento boxes, noodle dishes. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

I almost posted "Salmon sushi is the best." But, with you participating in the thread, could have a different meaning.

It is good food, just over priced. Basically started out as poor people food in Asia, but the hippies think it is art.

Who the frick doesn't like sushi?

One has only to look at the responses here to see that for some reason there is much more to it than just not liking sushi, to those enjoy it.
I realize this is the OT, but look at the judgments made about the OP, based almost solely on the fact that he doesn't like the shite. He don't like it, so he is a fatass redneck Applebee's diner, with a child's palate. Must have struck a nerve.

It was much more than that.
Try actually reading the OP: he's upset that she asked for sushi for her birthday.

I think throwing a childlike temper tantrum about going to a sushi restaurant is the reason OP is being ridiculed. There are people out there that don't enjoy any given food; I, for instance, cant stand peaches. If I am given peach tea though I don't pitch a fit about people who like peaches.

Sushi and deer sausage. I don't like deer sausage, but if you say that someone will tell you to try theirs bc they get it done at so n so place and it's better than what I've probably tried.

That's complete bullshite.
My gf loves sushi and I know what to get at various restaurants in town.
Ichiban has some good chicken and steak dishes.
Geisha in Pville has a good chicken teriyaki dish as does Yama.
Tsunami has great miso soup and a steak salad I like. I also like the Green Monster and the Leon Rolls.
I don't eat hardly ANY seafood and I manage 3-5 times a year. I'll eat a California Roll, Green Monster, etc. I won't eat sashimi.
OP is a seepy vagina.

If that's your idea of a temper tantrum, then so be it I guess. I was halfway fricking around about it in the first place (though I really don't like the shite). It is not something that I'm honestly mad about. I know it's a one day thing and I could bring my lunch that day. I didn't say anything to said coworker about it, nor would I. Some of you folks need to lighten up a bit, and quit taking your nasty sushi so damn seriously.

ETA: And because he's pretending that he's tried all of this sushi and hasn't enjoyed any of it. It's rice and fish.

Each response like this proves my original point I made about sushi eaters.

Yes really. You don't know what the frick you're talking about.
Nah, I pretty much summed up the two people who don't like sushi fairly well.
Sushi is an incredible spectrum of dishes and combinations of food. How someone doesn't "like" sushi just shows their ignorance of food overall, but some people just don't care that much about food anyway.

Someone in your office made you order off a sushi menu and you ran to the OT like a vagina.

I just tell your ole lady to make sure she baby-wipes that sashimi before I come over.
Only way I can eat it.

They always say "just try it, you'll love it"
