Probably because anyone that says anything negative about weed is retarded. There's literally nothing negative about it.

The fact that you refer to them as "potheads" may have something to do with it. Do you refer to those who drink alcohol as drunks?
I use cannabis just a few times a weeks, mainly after work and on weekends to relax. I make no distinction between my partaking of cannabis and someone who may enjoy a beer or other alcoholic drink.
Except for the fact that cannabis is much safer than alcohol far less addictive than alcohol. Alcohol is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths every year. No one has ever died from an overdose of cannabis. In fact, it is practically impossible to OD from cannabis.
