The OP was shitting on people evacuating FL "late" without know shite about FL.

I know and that is just not understanding circumstances...people just can't get up and leave an area for a week based on the possibility of a storm

No, I'm talking about your first post when you started the thread. The first premise directed at the entire state of FL knowing to evacuate.

Not trying to be an a-hole, just legitimately trying to get you to consider what you were originally asking of people, and how I don't think you're being fair. Like I said, that's what people do on the OT.

Only thing I edited was the title - changed "big hurricane" to "massive hurricane". Irma is more than big.

Have a friend in Miami who is staying with her 3 young kids. She says their houses are made of concrete and are built to withstand hurricanes. She said you leave for a rain event, not a wind event - and this is the latter.

she's a dumbass, they'll really enjoy the aftermath in their safe haven with no water, power, no supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, or anything else open, and oh yeah, curfews, best to GTFO and make a mini vacation out of it until most everything is back up and running

Of course. But I also have understanding bosses who care, plus leave time built up. I understand everyone is not so fortunate, but if a deadly natural disaster was threatening, I would try my best to GTFO before getting stuck on the hwy a day before the storm hits. Again, I get that not everyone is capable of such. Dont need anymore hate on here, thx.

Well you do know we do have jobs and lives also. You can't just say hey look at that hurricane a week away and it's heading right for us. The models are accurate but not enough to just drop everything and leave. Our government has done a great job out here in opening all roads including toll roads to get people out. Last year Hurricane Matthew opened a bunch of people's eyes and no one is taking this one for granted. I am probably riding this one out but I have a backup plan if it gets bad here.

I get it. Just sucks, that's all it comes down to. Unfortunate that storms happen and ppl get hurt or die.

Same reason they wait until the last minute to do anything I guess.

I think Florida has a lot of snow bird residents from Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. They may not appreciate the danger that these Cape Verde storms pose.
