Think a lot of people are just afraid to ask off too. I am literally the only person to evacuate from the rehab department at my hospital in jupiter. Couple days ago I texted my boss and asked him when he thought the hospital would be making a call when we could leave because when they did I was likely taking my two young kids and 25 weeks pregnant wife the hell out of S FL. He said we have a full staff and half the patients we'd normally have with no elective surgeries coming in, you can leave now if you want.
Everyone else afraid to ask despite wanting to leave and hospital sitting there with thumbs up their asses. Now everyone pretty much stuck. Crazy thing is the patients still there aren't even great PT candidates. Most really sick that we would just be lugging from bed to chair anyway.

no hate intended. Just seems like the answer is pretty obvious for anyone who has ever had a job.

I think we would all be surprised at the amount of people that do not follow current events. Mandated evacuations get a lot of media attention, and I bet it is the first real information many people in these situations pay attention to.

This, I know a friend of a friend was told they needed to be back at work the day after the hurricane or they were fired.

Nothing new that Americans in general are procrastinators.

The mandatory evacuation for New Orleans during Katrina started less than 24 hours before landfall. You should have known that situation was going to be a cluster frick based on how it was handled even before the storm got there.
