I'm just as directly in front of someone on the shoulder of a road as I am in the lane if they are in the other lane.

"In fact, hazard lights worsen the danger of driving in a downpour. Driving with your hazard lights on is also illegal in Florida — and in most states —punishable by a $129 fine. The only time you can use them when in motion is if the vehicle is in a funeral procession."
“Hazard lights are just that — the signal of a hazard, and you use them when you have pulled over to the side of the road or are disabled or in an accident,” said Matt Nasworthy, American Automobile Association public affairs director for Florida. “You cannot use them when you’re moving. It only causes confusion. Other drivers have no idea what you’re doing.”

For the same reason we do everything else that strikes others as dumb. Our parents taught us to do it and we don't question it.

Yes, just not while continuously driving down the road like an idiot. You can do it if there is an emergency situation going on.

Interstates have a minimum speed limit. If you can't do that, stay off of the interstate

I agree, which is why I've stated multiple times that I use them when the rain is so bad that I can't even come close to the speed limit. To the point my speed is a hazard, like say 15mph on an interstate. I put them on so that people are alerted of me as a hazard and maneuver around me while i find the closest safe spot I can get off the road.

Somehow people have an issue with that

I've never once said i'm okay with just driving with your flashers on, and even said there is no point using them if you can even come remotely close to going the speed limit.

Perfectly legal if the weather conditions force you to drive significantly under the speed limit in unusually low visibility.

I will if its so bad I can’t drive over 50-55 mph. I do a lot of hwy driving and I’d rather be safe than sorry.
How do flashers make you safer in the rain? If it's at night the off and on brightness disturbs the eyes of the driver behind you, especially if they are particularly bright yellow. With the regular flashing the driver might not brake as quickly when you actually do hit the brakes. Regular taillights are more helpful.

But, pussies will continue to drive with hazards on in the rain. When you look into the car as you pass them they are almost always goofy looking bastards.

I can't see your taillights fine as I approach.

You should never be going 15 on an interstate unless you're coming to, or going from a stop (or in traffic). Any slower than the minimum speed, and you become a hazard to other motorists. That's why there is a minimum speed

While I laugh at people who turn on their flashers when it’s raining, they don’t bother me near as much as the idiots who don’t turn on their lights when it’s raining. Those are the true idiots.

No shite. Did you not read the rest of my post? I'm actively searching for a safe spot to get off the road.

Makes it worse for you. It's disturbing. Read a few posts above yours...and stop being a pussy.

So, you don't want me to have my hazards on when i'm pulled off the road?

And i've been talking about using them for the brief amount of time while on the road where my speed is a legit hazard because visibility is that bad, as I find a spot to get off the road.

If the hazard lights are enough of a distraction while i'm driving slow to pull off, then they are just as distracting while i'm sitting on the side of the road.

Again, i've already said multiple times i'm against just driving with hazards. My point has been there are times where they are good to use while still on the road.

When you decide to drive slowly, do everyone a favor and pull off before you slow down. You have permission to put your hazards on only if you are actually slowing down and getting over

If the visibility is as low as it had the times I’ve had to, that would be more dangerous for me and everyone. I’m talking I couldn’t see more than 5 maybe 10 yards past my car while going 10-15mph.

What about the people who use flashers on their truck while hauling the washer, dryer, and fridge going well above the speed limit in the left lane. Nothing pisses me off more than people who use flasher on their vehicle when they are speeding down the road.
