much better meal awaits them at the Pizza Hut or Cane’s

Krispy Kruntchy beats the shite out of bland arse Cane’s chicken and fries. And Hunt’s Bros is better than Pizza Hut.

chicken on a stick is awesome
krispy krunchy chicken is better than Canes
Danny and Clydes Po Boys are awesome
plenty of places with good boudin
a 32oz soft drink for .79 beats any fast food place by a good bit.

and some of them have some decent cold sandwiches and adult lunchables

oh and i don't believe anything you said OP

I am either on a road trip or they have a promo where you get money off of a gallon of gas for buying certain items. Shell had a promo for a little while where if you bought a 20 oz Dew (any flavor) you would get 5 cents off a gallon plus the Dew bottles had a promo code for Double XP in Call of Duty, it was a win-win-win.

In Mississippi some of the best food we have comes from gas stations, but I realize that the vast majority of the country is not like that

You never had Krispy Krunchy chicken or catfish fresh out the fryer?

Never had some Billy’s boudin or cracklins or anything else from the Exxon in Carencro?

Beef jerky from Rita’s in Mamou Prairie?

Shrimp poboy from Danny & Clyde’s out of the Chevron station?

This man knows the way.

Tasso sandwich from the Exxon on US 190 in Opelousas.

The Chevron in Elton (intersection of LA 26 & US 190) does delicious plate lunches, as well as shrimp and chicken kabobs.

most people living outside of big cities are 10 minutes from several gas stations with just about all of the groceries you ever need, short of meat and eggs. but these same people must drive up to an hour to get to a real grocery store.

I've been to convenience stores that sell eggs and luncheon meat

You literally ate a bag of cheetos and a dr pepper on your lunch break, from a gas station. Your lack of self awareness is astounding.

They all used to have milk, bread, eggs, other pantry items. About ten years ago I stopped seeing them as often. They are mostly focused on the lottery addicts, blunt wrapper buyers, and beer run folks. I'm one of the beer run folks. I'm not doing a whole grocery store rigamarole to pick up some bud light I mean miller light.

Honestly, sometimes I will stop on the way home from work to pick up a small milk if I have ran out and need it. Don’t use it often. I hate grocery shopping and don’t want to stop there on way home.

I won’t but buy chips there other than the snack size on rare occasion if I’m heading out on the road. Those larger bags are crazy $$$
