I joined a gym yesterday for the first time in about 10 years and saw some strange things.

- why does a 40 year old mother of three need to be flipping tires?

- why does every dude need to wear full body under armor under their dry fit outfits?

- what is the Bane breathing apparatus mask people wear when riding the treadmill?

I just did some benches, curls, then 20 minutes on the treadmill. Used to work great, but I guess times have changed. Do I need one of these 25 year old chubby personal trainers to teach me how to back peddle with rubber bands around my calves?

Why is some fat idiot who hasn’t seen the inside of a gym in 10 years judging anyone?

Why did you make working out difficult by joining a gym?

The ones that kill me are the people that have no clue how some of the machines operate and try to use them in a manner that is dangerous to themselves and others in the gym.

U-tube is full of videos of folks getting injured while exercising in stupid ways in gyms. It's like if some of the apparatuses weren't bolted to the floor, they pull them over on themselves or others.

I'm so guilty of this and end up looking like a DA. I just workout at home with the elliptical. free weights and punching bag. Simple, safe and effective.

I joined this year, after a 20 year "break".

I'm slowly getting my definition and strength back, and the pounds are going away.

Just the basic lifts and cardio for me.

Better to make it difficult than to do the easiest shite there.

You sound like a chick who joins a gym just to use the elipticle machine because she doesnt want to get too jacked while maintaining a sugar chic diet of Starbucks and crackers

Had a lady at my gym that would get on the treadmill and crank up the speed but then hang onto the control panel (not the grab bars) and lean backwards to speed walk. It drove me insane. If her grip were to slip she was going to kill herself and then our machines were constantly out of order because she was destroying the panels. Couldn’t figure out why the management didn’t do something about it.

My biggest complain is thus far people who feel the need to tie up 3-4 different machines at a time performing their "supersets."

Damn it, just occupy one machine at a time, do your three sets, then move on to the next one.

Why don't you go up to them and offer to help them operate it correctly?

This is the one I have sympathy for. If someone doesn't know how to use a machine I'd like to see workers or an experienced gym member explain it to them. If they're using it in some meme CrossFit exercise, sure let them go. But I don't like that people are made fun of if they genuinely don't know. I want people to better themselves and stop being fatbody leeches, not feel bad about looking silly.

Isn’t the point of working out to, in fact, work your body?
