This is rich. The majority of the OP's threads are complaining about people or things. OP makes a thread about people complaining.

Feedback is often a PITA for managers or owners but it is also useful. A good manager can weed out the Karens of the world and glean useful information that can help make their business better. Companies want to please and be responsive to the 90% of customers that aren't simply just complainers.

That's fine, you're free to live how you want to live. But maybe your new bank is better because at some point someone complained to management about a problem, and it was subsequently fixed. Strange to mock people who effect positive changes so you don't have to.

I worked in restaurants for nearly a decade. 65% or more of the complaints had zero merit and was someone trying to get something for free. If it's an actual complaint, sure, take the feedback and use it to make meaningful changes, but you have to know what you are doing to sift through the BS.

Depends. I don't deal with the public anymore, but I always want to know if something isn't going well. Regardless of if my employee is at fault or not, if someone is going bat shite, I wanted to deal with it because it pissed me off when people yelled at my employees.

Because the manager is probably the only chance you have of talking to someone who gives a damn.

i wrote an email to a local electrical supplier about the lack of service i received from his crew. i received a call from the owner thanking me for bringing it to his attention and apologizing. i didn't do it to obtain some sort of concession. i did it because i'd want to know if i were in his shoes.

I’m not talking talking about complaints that could help better a business.

I’m talking about people bitching about stupid shite like the price being too high. Instead of bitching drive your happy arse down the street to somewhere that has it cheaper

November 12, 2019: Someone on the O-T Lounge Board starts a thread complaining about people complaining.

No doubt there's a lot of bullshite complaints and people who complain just to complain or to get free shite, but "quality" complaints are by far the best way for businesses to learn to be better, and for customers to get better service at their favorite stores/whatever. Legit complaints are a win-win.

I'd say the complaints I get are 50/50 legit/BS. I'm thankful for the ones that are legit. They help us improve.

From there I'd say half of the BS ones will eventually get something out of me just to make them go away. I only have so many fricks to give. I've learned there are just some people in the world that like to complain to get things and won't give up until they get it. I don't understand it, but I recognize it when I see it.

The remaining BS complaints I can usually just make go away by listening to the complaint and agreeing with them. Sometimes people just want to vent. That's cool. I can play along.

And every so often there's that one complaint that I get to yell back at. For example, I have GPS and cameras in all our company vehicles. Our trucks are pretty noticeable, so anytime one of my drivers forgets a blinker, I get a phone call. Sadly, most of the driving complaints are legit, but sometimes I get video evidence that the complainer was at fault, and those are fun.

I won't disagree with you there. South Park had the best episode about people that are "yelp reviewers" which is highly accurate where everyone now things they are official food critics.
I saw a complaint the other day from some IG "Influencer" that gave 1-star to a restaurant because, although her and her BF enjoyed their dinner and she even told the manager how much they enjoyed it, the manager didn't comp any food or drinks when she told the manager that she has 11,000 followers and was going to post about the restaurant.

Most stereotypes are legit. Some were great; most weren't. Bad tippers are just a part of the restaurant business though. Got to take the good with the bad.

Bitching about high prices is absolutely a legit complaint! Especially when it comes to big ticket items, you can usually do some negotiating. This is how markets work. Why would you just leave instead of telling a manager "look, this is $50 cheaper down the street"? You could probably get it even cheaper, and save time and gas too.

Likewise, your other two examples in the OP are legit complaints, as well. Why wouldn't you inform management about poor inventory management or long wait times? These are things that are easily fixable if someone who gives a shite is notified of the problem. I mean, something compelled you to shop there in the first place, why wouldn't you want your next experience to be better?

No its not legit. You won’t get the same prices at the piggly wiggly that you will at walmart. Places have different buying power

As a small business owner in retail, complaints are taken seriously. We are always taking those direct from the customer and not an employee or manager. Now at larger stores or chains, I feel like you are wasting your time.

Probably not at either store mentioned, but if you go to a locally owned shop, you can get some deals.

In high school, I worked at a men's clothing store and the owner would definitely give better than sticker price to regulars and then if you paid cash over cards. In restaurants, there is definitely wiggle room in wine, not the BTG or cheap stuff, but have come down off the menu price to get the sale (it helped that the bottle was listed at $3,750).

Now you're getting specific about which types of complaints and where they occur, whereas in the OP you said "can't help but laugh every time".

So sure, it's dumb to complain about prices at piggly wiggly, but it's still legit to complain about stock and wait times there. And at just about every type of shop besides grocery stores, it's legit to complain about prices. It's very difficult, if not impossible, to perfectly optimize pricing. It's even harder if customers don't give feedback on pricing.
