Throughout history people have levied consequences on an individual in order to affect institutional change. It is called deterrence. Discourage future similar behavior by punishing an individual instance of the behavior. It is used in courts, in school, and in protests. When someone posts something racist online and loses their job for it guess what the result is? People are afraid to post racist things online. Once again, no one is going to prison for this. But you may face occupational, educational, and social consequences for things you willingly post online.

Racist or homophobic according to who? To some people, saying "I don't think Donald Trump is the literal love child of Hitler and Satan" would be akin to being a klan member and enough to justify you getting your life destroyed.

Saying you support Trump or All Lives Matter isn’t racist. And it’s not always about losing your job. HS kids get cancelled also. As I mentioned earlier that girl on Twitter going after people for being pro Trump, that’s an example of cancel culture, maybe small, but that’s another example. She had thousands of people sharing pictures about a 16 y/o with a Trump shirt and telling them to go after her

It goes beyond racism because you guys don't think anything is racist. Once again, no will legally be fired from their job or kicked out of school for simply saying they support Trump. Colleges (which I know many of you didn't go to) have their own Republican student clubs for kids to voice their support. However, when you say purposefully incendiary statements you will get the backlash you were looking for. The term "All Lives Matter" literally originated as a rebuttal to "Black Lives Matter." When someone says that what they are really saying is "I oppose the Black Lives Matter movement." That is, of course, going to generate backlash. Conservatives love to make it seem like they are being persecuted for their beliefs when they intentionally say and do things to upset people and receive the consequences for it.
