Also, please stop acting like Kaep wasn't blacklisted for kneeling. This is a known fact at this point.

An anonymous NFL source makes it a known fact now.

Well shite, pack it up fellas, we have a "known" fact here.

Keep telling yourself that.

Funny, there were many players kneeling. Were they blacklisted as well? Go ahead, you can say it. We all know the answer.

NFL viewership and advertising dollars were taking a hit and as a business you don’t bring in a new face of the business that carries an active sabotage to your bottom line.

Also, Kaepernick isn’t good enough to overlook that.

It’s funny how many people get upset or confused as to why a shitty football player that wasn’t a team player and was a cancer in the lockeroom couldn’t find a job.

I'm sure you have some examples in history where people had their lives destroyed for something they said twenty years ago, or as a child, in the name of "institutional change".

You yet again completely ignore context.

You honestly can sit there and believe destroying the life of someone today for what they said as a teenager ten or twenty years ago is justified? And it's just for "institutional change"?

You used a bunch of words to rehash your same flawed argument.

Your premise is that cancel culture is no different than the civil rights movement. This premise is utter bullshite and I complete reject it.

Adam Schefter made it a known fact bro. Or do you think Schefter would lie about his sources just to make people feel bad for Kaep?

Teams choosing to stay away from him because of something he did isn't being blacklisted. It's teams choosing not to bring in a media shitstorm as a backup QB.

You specifically asked about "64 better QBs", insinuating that the entire league has blackballed the dude. That's simply not the case.

It goes beyond racism because you guys don't think anything is racist. Once again, no will legally be fired from their job or kicked out of school for simply saying they support Trump. Colleges (which I know many of you didn't go to" have their own Republican student clubs for kids to voice their support. However, when you say purposefully incendiary statements you will get the backlash you were looking for. The term "All Lives Matter" literally originated as a rebuttal to "Black Lives Matter" when someone says that what they are really saying is "I oppose the Black Lives Matter movement." That is, of course, going to generate backlash.

Just go ahead and quit man.

go ahead and tell that the signatories of this letter. You know, highly-esteemed conservatives like JK Rowling, Noam Chomsky, and Salman Rushdie.

Open Letter Regarding Cancel Culture

Objection to "cancel culture" isn't a right vs. left thing.

I see a lot of libertarians support cancel culture by pointing to the 1st amendment as a restriction on government and not individuals, which is correct.

However, using your 1st amendment rights to force someone to lose their job is a violation of the NAP.

I know that doesn't mean much to republicans and democrats, but if you claim libertarianism you should think about the above statement.

What that one team didn't want to sign him? Well stop the fricking presses!!

Funny, you left out the part about others who kneel.

You wouldn't know a fact if it bit you on the arse.

One of the principle points made in the thread is the difference in political views and how they're treated. If that man had said, conservative suck, he wouldn't have been touched.

Further, the hilarity that you think whether it was private or public in this instance is relevant is rather amusing. Being openly right leaning right now is a death sentence in the field of public opinion.

Tell me with a straight face that you believe there were 64 QBs in the NFL better than he was

There were 64 other QBs who had more financial value at the time. Again, he declined his option for another year on his contract (completely within his rights) but the market wasn't favorable for what he was asking for. Teams either had QBs locked up, could get equal talent for less money, or just flat out didn't want to involve themselves with the circus HE created around himself. He wasn't as valuable as he thought he was and the market didn't work out for him at the time.

It almost happened to Cam Newton this season for different reasons (mainly injury concerns where he would only let HIS doctors give out his medical history). If NE didn't sign him then they did, I'm almost certain he would be done playing football.

Is "cancel culture" not just another way to say "protest?" I have heard many people lament that cancel culture is harmful because it suppresses viewpoints and promotes political correctness. However, why should people be expected to support people or institutions who say or do things they find objectionable? Furthermore, it seems to me like both sides of the aisle engages in cancel culture in one way or another. When Donald Trump says he wont watch the NFL if players kneel for the anthem is he not engaging in cancel culture?

Just to be clear: you support fixing people and trying to have them fired and their life ruined because they have a different political viewpoint than you?
That is what cancel culture is all about.

Well that isn't true and no one in this thread has said otherwise. You literally made that up.

That's not true either and people have shown you examples along with Jemele Hill's tweet saying anyone that supports trump s a racist. So if your employer agrees with that and finds out you support the president you could be fired/cancelled.

Ok backlash is one thing but being cancelled or fired because you say this is another. And BLM matter is a Marxist, terrorist movement. Go look up for what they stand for. When people say All Lives Matter how can you jump to the conclusion that what they really think is "they don't care about black lives"? That is now thought policing. YOu don't see an issue with that?

This is wrong. I would like you to define racism. Anytime someone says “this is racist” doesn’t mean that thing is actually racist.

And are you really any better than those you accuse? you think everything is racist. Case in point:

The term "All Lives Matter" literally originated as a rebuttal to "Black Lives Matter." When someone says that what they are really saying is "I oppose the Black Lives Matter movement." That is, of course, going to generate backlash.

Opposing the black lives matter movement isn’t racist. Change my mind.

I love how when black teenagers get kicked off a football team for smoking weed or missing a team meeting the response is always "Well they should have been smarter" but when white kids get kicked out of school for saying racist shite online it's all "OMG. Poor babies. They just made a mistake! Quit being jerks!"

I never said it was racist. I said it was sure to cause controversy which is true.
