Well, compared to how much publicity they got for Charles and Andrews' weddings back in the 80's, I would say that their popularity is fading over the past generation.

I like the historical aspect of monarchies. There are not many things man has maintained a long continuity of through a thousand years of history like a monarchy.

I would say William who will be king is different circumstances than the "spare heir" Harry

British royalty hasn’t meant a damn thing for over a hundred years easily.

they actually retain a lot more power than people realize. They just rarely use it/get their flunkies in the house of lords to go do it for them so they don't get their hands dirty.

Because lots of folks kinda wish that the USA had Kings and Queens. Many people are hard wired to prefer to live in an absolute monarchy. Freedom requires learning and critically thinking. Many people can't handle that -- it's too hard for them. They are better off living under the Iron Fist of Absolute Dictatorship so they don't have to learn anything or critically think about anything.

In fact, I think that one day the people of this country will vote for Dictatorship -- way after we're dead and gone, but, still.

I can’t fathom why people (mostly women) are so enthralled by them.

My gf is. I don't really get it but whatever keeps em happy

Don't American women care about them more than British women do? I've always heard that or is that just a thing Americans made up to sound important?

That still doesn’t explain how she is already able to walk.

Epidurals aren't common place in the UK. They typically use "gas and air," part oxygen and part nitrous. They also have less contact with actual physicians and are mostly cared for by midwives unless high risk. They go home and the midwives visit at home.

driver when he could be dating a supermodel or Jennifer Lawrence

Not a huge Danica fan but she is magnitudes hotter than that gross walking bag of moles. The new Royal slam piece is, also.

I never understood the US media's obsession with charles and Diana. I don't hate the royal family but who actually spends their lives giving a crap about figureheads of another country ?

Or maybe...just maybe...he actually loves her?

And it’s a little dramatic to say that the lineage is going to be “forever changed”.

I don't know, but I will say this. I care more about what goes on with British royalty than I care about what the Kardashian family is doing.

I guess I could see why British would care (it’s part of their history) but I have no idea why so many non British people care. It’s pretty much the same as any other celebrity obession.
