If they were american, we would have riots over our tax dollars propping these glorified welfare queens that does nothing but sit and look pretty all day.
Hell, we get pissed over our tax dollars being spent on the first family and they are responsible for getting actual shite done like governing the executive branch.

Americans like them better than the Brits. Most of them either dont care or want the monarchy abolished. I will say Diana's sons have done a lot to rehabilitate the Royal family's image. They seem like standup guys.

The reason people (mostly women) care is because they are the closest thing to royalty that we have. The better question is how was she able to leave the hospital after having the baby only a few hours ago.

Don't get the Americans who care. For the British, at least the English, they are the symbol of the nation.

I think spending several days at the hospital for child birth is an American thing. We had our son in a German hospital. We were admitted at 6am and were sitting at home with the new baby by 11am.
About an hour after he was born a nurse came in told us we were free to leave. I was pretty shocked and asked if she was sure we could leave already and she said "Why, is something wrong?".
