Why do people act like going to the beach is fun?

Especially with kids?
Nothing says fun like paying for an overpriced condo, having to sweat your balls off hauling a wagon full of junk down to the beach, only to sit there for about 2-3 hours before everyone has enough sand time and goes sit by the pool. Then you have to break all the shite down, and clean the sand off after.
Went the last two summers, will be doing lake houses from here on out. At least until both our kids are 8+

Anything where you can tell someone else you spent money, especially at some super duper nice house on the beach, you take it!

I took my kids to the beach nearly every year until they were 16. Never hauled anything. Wife would carry a bag with some towels, I’d usually have one with some drinks and snacks. We’d rent beach chairs and an umbrella someone else sets up.

I like beach condo balconies and beer. That's usually the extent of my beach enjoyment.

It is work, and I agree. But it’s all about how much your kids enjoy it. I’m not there for me. Would rather be in many places. But that’s not what it is about.
