We do, but you can’t compare to the weird stuff you can get at WF when you need it. You can’t bank on walking into them for a unique specialty ingredient like you can WF.

That is what people don't understand about Trader Joe's also. It is not a regular grocery- it is a place to get coconut milk yogurt, unsalted almonds, frozen Indian cuisine, Belgium chocolates, frozen bananas....it is not a regular store lol

It also introduced things like cookie butter and everything but the bagel seasoning which went mainstream because they are awesome.

And to answer the OP: I don't eat fast food because I know where to go for inexpensive restaurant food. Mexican restaurant near me has $5.00 lunch specials but it is still better than taco bell, greasy diner burger and fries for $7 better than fast food burger, and Italian restaurant with chef from Italy has $8.99 daily specials and chef is from Italy. But I am glad everyone eats fast food so my local places are not overrun.

The most expensive things at WF are the packaged gimmicky foods that are not cheap anywhere except Walmart. For example, yesterday while I was waiting in the meat department I saw these extremely tiny 2oz snacking packages. It’s like an ounce of prosciutto and an ounce of cheese. They were proudly displaying that they’re on sale from $7.. and still expensive as hell.

But there’s plenty that is fine priced there. The bulk items are great. Produce isn’t bad depending what you’re buying. The nice steaks or fish like sea bass or snapper is often on sale and not any higher or lower than my usual store (Robért). In fact, I bet the only reason I spend more at WF than I do at my normal store is because they have way more stuff so I load up.

For reference - I don’t have kids, don’t eat breakfast, don’t snack at all, and go out for meals 2-3 times a week. So I’m not buying enough at a time for it to matter. I totally understand why it would be expensive for a large family and certainly wouldn’t call it cheap in that regard.

Where I’m from, having a home in Florida or anywhere else is a status symbol so it’s kind of a hush hush thing. Married school teacher couples and principals were almost seen as “rich” because they had degrees and went on a vacation every year. There were a few doctors kids/small business/farm owner kids too but there wasn’t a big divide or anything. Then I move to the south and there’s a handful of extremely wealthy kids, some new money in gaudy houses and hummers,
a bunch of pretenders, and black people with the same four last names. It was like living on another planet.

I haven’t eaten fast or fried foods since August due to a health scare. Changed my diet completely.

“I can’t remember the last time I went to a McDonald’s!”

Yeah you do. It was probably yesterday.
McDonald's is awful

But my boys(9 year old twins) and I head out to the local Popeye's every other weekend without fail.

Then here and there, probably every 2-3 weeks again, when we're out and about we may get some Canes or Chick Fil A or something like that. We'll change it up with some Whataburger or Chipotle here and there.

So I'd say we're twice a monthers to fast food spots.

Family of 4 at Wendy's and you are looking at 30 bucks pretty easily if everyone orders what they want.

We can be eating steak and shrimp fajaitas at home for dinner for three days for that price.

$30 for 12 steaks...does not sound appetizing.

Trader Joe's also. It is not a regular grocery

Trader Joes is the GOAT junk food store, my wife stocks the pantry full of sweets when she goes there.

I don't hate fast food, but my taste for it has narrowed a lot over the years. In high school Wendy's dollar menu was the shite, now the Wendy's near me is a good place to get the shits. I've had times where I went 2-3 years without a soda or fried food, but I like some Chik-Fil-A or a Bojangles biscuit.

You can't beat a McDonalds coke especially when hung-over.

<——I eat Fast Food on average once every two months or so.

Popeye’s gets at least a shot at every chance.

The fried fish patty on McDonald’s sandwich can be Ok.

Maybe a Chili from Wendy’s.

Just about anything from Taco Bell would work.

When I travel outside North America, I generally try to go at least once to an American Fast Food outlet there.

KFC in Japan is a trip.

Anyone with kids who claims they never eat McDonald’s is a liar. Having said that, I despise McDonald’s. Other than the sausage McMuffin with egg their food is dogshit. The only fast food places I actually like are Whataburger, Culver’s, and Sonic.
