Tens of thousands of Boomers who did not go off to college ( most didn’t) or have great jobs with retirement packages were also drafted by their government and killed in Vietnam.

That's an impressively hideous house.

My dad is a boomer. He retired at 55 with no pension. He probably lived more frugally than most people that made what he did would be willing to do now too.

The 75 million people born from 1978 - 1992 are generation Y, according to the birth rate tracked by the SSA. Generation Y is much larger than both generation X (1964 - 1978) and millennials (post 1992) and just slightly bigger than the original baby boom, who total roughly 72 million, born from 1946 - 1964.

The US population growth rate fell off a cliff after from 1990 - 1992, falling below replacement level and it has not recovered since. There are very clear generation markers defined by the birth rate, most of which are ignored by clickbait pushing lazy journalists.

The millennials are kids who grew up primarily in the new millennium, and there are relatively few of them so they got much more of their parents' attention than generation Y kids. Lumping in someone who is 41 with a 25 year old who never saw MTV when they played music videos and doesn't know what a fax is doesn't make sense.

Ya, but we all voted you out of the Gen X pool. You're now a millenial.

Millennial's ARE Gen Y. Millennial's are people who came of age as the millennium (2000) hit, not those who grew up during the new millennium. This is what I'm talking about when I say people don't even know what a Millennial is. Also, people born from '78-'80 tend to get grouped with Gen X while people born '95 and under tend to get grouped with Millennials.

College: Expensive because universities noticed the government giving children blank checks and jacked up tuition prices because they can.
Blame: Government and universities

Retirement: Current 401Ks > old style pensions.
Blame: YOURSELF, for being an idiot.

Housing Market: Have you seen the majority of the houses built in the late 60's - early 80's (boomer purchasing timeframe)? On average they were 2 bed / 1 bath houses and maybe 1,000 sq ft, at most. Only rich people had 1,500+ 3 bed / 2 bath houses. You can frick right off bitching that you can't afford a McMansion fresh out of high school. Get the frick out of here.
Blame: YOURSELF, quit being an entitled bitch.

Job Market: I personally know a millenial that is a director level manager at a Fortune 500 company. Of course he has a real degree and had to work to get where he is at. My neighbor is technically a millenial (born early 80's) that got into plumbing out of high school and just started his own plumbing company. The jobs are there you just have to want to be smart and want to work.
Blame: YOURSELF, quit bitching. No one is going to give you anything.

When Boomers think teenagers today are millennials I LOL. And if you try to explain how the generations are actually defined they will just tell you they are still millennials to him.

Link please. Because the definition of Millennial is someone who was approaching adulthood around the millennium. LINK

This is why some people are so adverse against Millennials. Because they are millennials thinking they are talking about Gen Z. The media and boomer also blames a lot of the issues going on today on Millennials when in fact it is gen Z.

A true millennial remembers life pre internet. Remembers prodigy, the OG AOL. They were in college in the early 2000's and out around 2010. This is why this should be its own generation. the younger Gen Xers and old Gen Yers. they are just different than true Gen X and the bozos born in the 90s

I tend to roughly divide them in half.

Older = Analog Millennials and younger = Digital Millennials.

I agree 100%. As I’ve said before, there’s not a dime’s worth difference between either.

Stupid. Millennials are Boomer reboots and they have a ton in common... like wrecking this country.

Gen X are remnant throw backs from the Greatest Generation. Gen Z is/will be heavily split but they are closer aligned to GenX. There is only so much indoctrination that can be ignored.

Nope. Median square footage was over 1,500 by 1975.

That’s the problem. Back then young first time homeowners didn’t think they could start off with a “median” sized home. Instead they took what they could afford which was usually a two bedroom one bath house no more than 1,000 sq. Ft. They knew you had to start at the bottom and (Trigger warning: scary word to follow) WORK your way up.

Dude, I would love to find a decent 2 bedroom home to live in. The trouble is that all of them are crack dens or surrounded by crack dens. Development has shifted to McMansions, so that comprises most of the livable inventory.

Thanks for proving my point. Like I said, back then young adults bought what they could afford and then worked their asses off until they could afford something better.
