When I was in Basic training the non smokers had to pick up the butts from all the smokers. Guess who started smoking.

The company I work for banned smoking on any of their property world wide. The smokers get to go drive down the road and smoke while non-smokers are left to do work. If they went smoke on their 2 allotted breaks it would be ok but those bastards leave every hour for at least 15-20 minutes to go puff cancer sticks. Time should be docked but of course that wouldn't be inclusive.

Then tell them you started smoking and take a ride down the street. Or you could just continue to bitch about the smokers taking breaks you can’t get.

I went to my boss a few years back and made a proposal.
"We still offer smoke break, right? Right. So they still get an additional lunch break, right? Right. Well I want my smoke break in the form of an extra 45 minutes on top of my lunch hour so I can work out."
He hemmed and hawed. Didn't really have an answer to, "so let me get this straight. You're ok with giving employees a break to kill themselves but not to make themselves healthy?"
It's been a really nice hidden job perk ever since.

Back in the good ole days, I made it a rule not to hire smokers due to their constant need for breaks and fatties due to their constant need for food. Worked for a good while too.

I don’t smoke but I work with a lot of smokers. I realize after reading this thread most of yall are teenage girls but the smokers I work with are nothing like what’s portrayed in here. They all work hard and seldom take breaks.

A couple of the older ladies here burn a pack a day, watch them go by and smoke 2 every hour.
One of them is our controller and one time she didn't have my paycheck ready when I took off for lunch. If your smoke breaks are stopping me from getting paid, yeah son, it's a problem. I don't even live paycheck to paycheck, but I know 1 or 2 in the office that does. People don't play when it comes to money.

My dad said the really smart/lazy workers on a crew when he was a kid would roll their own cigarettes.
Stop working, lean on shovel, fish out the papers and tobacco, measure tobacco onto paper, roll it just so, and put pouches back. Presto, you got yourself an extra minute or two break per smoke.

I worked at a welding/machine shop to put myself through college. At 18-22 years old I was paid $1.00/hr than the 40+ year old guys. Owner wasn't hesitant to explain why:
"He doesn't stop and take a smoke and look at the steel he's laid out. He doesn't stop and take a smoke and look at the rig after he tacks it up. He doesn't stay out on the dock for a smoke after unloading steel from a truck. You stop smoking on my time and I'll bump your pay." Some guys did.

It’s just so pathetic that without that little cancer stick you can’t handle a stressful situation or go 15 minutes without one. I just can’t stand that addictive personality type. Same goes with people that have to drink themselves stupid every damn day after work.
