frick you comrade. Why shouldn't they be born into it? You think generational wealth is wrong? Or do you just feel there should be some arbitrary number one can't go beyond? You think the heirs of Gates, Bezos, or even Mark Cuban don't deserve the fruits of their parent's labor?

How did their history end because of us? They grew the empire east after losing the 13 colonies.

They killed off the original monarchy in 1649. The history went on. They restored the monarchy in 1660, with the power given to the parliament, history went on.

London is over 2,000 years old as a city. (Londinium)
That comment stuck out as odd to me.

That love (if that’s what it is) is about to be severely tested. Elizabeth left a very weak bench.

I wish we had a royal family and that it was the Trump’s.

I've refrained from commenting too much on threads like this.

But I'll try to give you some insight and not make it too long.

It's not necessarily "love" but respect.
For a long time now, especially in the last 100yrs or so the top tier Royal family have served God and Country...

That service comes with a bunch of duties to fulfill as ambassadors of the country.
The Queen served for 70 years... Think about that....70 years of service.

I'm not ashamed to say that I watched all of yesterday's ceremony and there were times I was sure someone was cutting onions in the room. Footage cutting to the two Corgis waiting for Mom to come home ...

All the above being said the up coming royals have big shoes to fill. Will they do it, time will tell.

I think most Brits would say they "loved" Elizabeth... Will we say the same about Charles, William and others... It all depends on how they serve the country.

The guys you mentioned actually created something of value that society rewards them through with money. The royal family hasn’t created jack shite and literally live very well of their fund paid for by the tax payers

Big shoes to fill doing what exactly ?

It seems very not hard to be a royal, almost like anyone could do it, given the same circumstances

We do, just not formally.

Adams, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Bush...US is run by political dynasties.

Damn, I never knew we had a Sloane Ranger on the board….

Are we the only two people who understand the term on this board…

That being said agree with you that the bench is weak….the best sub he has at this point is Anne

You think any of those guys I mentioned aren’t getting taxpayer funded help from the government?
And I’m fine with it. They’re using our tax laws and regulations to their benefit. Good on them.

But the Royal Family is a British institution. It’s not a foreigners place to judge them one way or the other. We subsidize institutions here that are complete trash. It’s disingenuous at best to deride the monarchy when we have our own embarrassments staring us in the face.

And the Royal Family isn’t a complete parasite. They do generate revenue through tourism. More than you can say for our own Congress.

Huber and yourself asked similar great questions...

Their "service" is comparable to what ambassadors do for every country.
Promote diplomatic relations, promote economic ties etc.
They do it world wide.

Additionally they help raise 100's of millions for charities.

I often think to myself…

The average IQ of the OT cant possibly be that low, can it?

Then I read posts like this…

This has to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen on here. Most Brit’s don’t give a shite and their history ended because of us.

Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton were both unable to continue a dynasty, because we have the right to end it when we have enough sense. There is no voting for royal dynasties.

You realize the royals have no political power, right? That Britain votes in new political leadership far more often than we do?

Yes, and I also realize it's foolish to put some one on a pedestal that was born into this world because their cousins fricked.
