Why do British vehicles typically have poor reliability?

The Brits can be master craftsmen and produce very high quality firearms, clothing, and other products. Meanwhile I can’t really think of any English auto brand known for high reliability. Has their industry just been mismanaged? Product is out of their comfort zone?
They can have very good automotive engineers (see Lotus) that somehow translate into real world problems (see Lotus).

The British auto industry is tied in with dental care.

The same could be said for German cars, they just have better marketing

To be honest I don’t really associate reliability with any European car manufacturer outside of maybe VW.

German cars seem to have electrical issues.

I drove a Jaguar for a couple of years and never had an issue. Great cars. Of course, Jaguar is owned by the Tata Group but they still make them in the UK.
Triumph makes a damn good bike as well.

There's a huge difference between performance and reliability. Its not easy at all to get both.

American cars with the exception of some Fords are shite too last time I checked.
It’s all about manufacturing and quality of parts. The American factories are affected by the unions.

When it's refurbished by the McClaren factory, it's basically a new car again.
