Larger gators being more aggressive, I don’t see why you wouldn’t carry a firearm in case the gator became a threat. I understand the legal implications, but frick that. If it’s me or the gator, well...

I don't think anyone in Louisiana has ever died from a gator attack.
Actually, there were 5 last week but they were coded as corona virus victims.

Those big lizards are not that scary in Louisiana. They are shy. I worked around those things daily years ago in marshes on foot, and not once feared for my life. I've swam within 10ft of 5 to 6 of them and not a worry in the world.
You remind me of the fellow in East Texas (Orange or Vidor, I believe) who was warned not to swim by a boat ramp frequented by a large gator. His last comment was “frick that gator”.
I think they found parts of him in that same gators digestive tract.

If you chute a gator in Florida it’s life in prison for disturbing the ecosystem. In La it’s a roast. And wildlife conservation won’t remove the gator unless it’s a “known threat.” You aren’t allowed to trap or bait them.

we have twice as many..... but the habitat they are in in FL is more people friendly than in LA.. I mean you can't go walking everywhere in des allemands....

more to eat in Florida
Pretty easy answer to a stupid question

Florida: Gators eat people
Louisiana: People eat Gators
Louisiana: People eat Gators

Probably has something to do with a higher number of visiting tourists who are not used to dealing with them.
I think we have too many here in LA- and that anyone who buys a hunting license/gets deer tags should receive 2 gator tags, per season.

Nuisance alligators in Florida get trapped and relocated. Nuisance alligators in Louisiana get shot and eaten. Florida should do the same.

You can get tags in Florida just like you can in Louisiana.

By eating their family and friends for generations, Louisiana people have established themselves as the top of the food chain. And the gators know it.
In Florida the food chain goes Meth - Gators - Bath salts - People

Because there's more gators in Fla than La... Their hunting season sucks with a yearly 2 bag limit.

Since 1988, Florida's statewide alligator harvest has been nationally and internationally recognized as a model program for the sustainable use of a natural resource. Each year, alligator management units are established with appropriate harvest quotas to provide recreational opportunities for Floridians and non-residents who are at least 18 years old to take up to 2 alligators per permit. Applicants who are awarded a permit must pay for two CITES tags and an Alligator Trapping License, or provide proof of possession of an Alligator Trapping License valid through the end of the alligator harvest season. A Florida hunting license is not required to participate in the statewide alligator hunt.

The poster talking about hungry alligators and lack of wildlife may have a point. We dont have the amount of pythons eating all of the deer and birds like the Everglades. I'm sure we have few but not the amount they have.
