100K + reported out of power. MISO website doesn't show much but does have a message saying that they are off tomorrow

According to New Orleans city councilman Joe Giarrusso, it was a “load shed” event from MISO, meaning it was intentional with absolutely no forewarning to the public. This is Memorial Day weekend, many people may have had things planned at their house that they now have to cancel and not to do because of the MISO (midcontinent independent system operator) who provides transmission in the Midwest and parts of the south. “Load shed” is shedding power to prevent grid damage or prolonged the outages

Valero. Total power loss

That was what I figured.

Someone said it had nothing to do with the outage.

In before, how will this affect gas prices.

That is a lot of petroleum product being burned off because of either the incompetence at Entergy or MISO.

100,000+ on a rolling blackout with no advance notice and no word on how long it'll last. That's some real third world shite we've got going for us

They're, Cleco, are getting murdered but had nothing to do g to do with it.

MISO planned this outage to "load shed". It's going to be a loooong summer

Not announcing it in this weather is bullshite. MISO needs to answer for that.

I misunderstood. I thought you were implying that something had happened there to cause the outage. Not that the flare was a result of it. My bad.

Some new engineer probably messed up the demand calc and fricked it up on a long weekend.

The E.I A .has a U.S grid map that shows real time current load on any power grid in the country. Current baseload for MISO is shown at 70 Mgw/hr.

Just for yuks I toggled the setting to the past Friday at this time. It was 74 Mgw.

Did taking 100k offline in the N.O. area dip the grid by that much- 4 Mgw?
And why were they able to handle 74MGW on Friday?

Power varies by day. They estimate how much power they need and run assets to meet.

Also, power back on in uptown. Suck it poors.
