Why is this so hard for people to admit? And why is he remembered as some sort of folk hero?

Guess you need to read up on America history. Our founders were terrorist too.

Assuming he did it all from prison, the IRA did similar stuff. I suppose, facing apartheid and what the Irish saw, almost anything is justified. If nothing else, a change of heart goes a long way in Mandela’s case, if not far enough.

Besides, he made south African rugby great again. Yay springbox.

This makes sense, and I think you for your contribution. I feel like I understand Mandela and his background much better.

Necklacing sounds like a real cool way to die. I always wanted to go out with a burning and melting tire around my neck.

Why are you stealing my poliboard schtick?

You wanna know something scary? 99% of African American political types consider him their hero

As many heroes of the left that we're nothing but thugs and despots (Che, Fidel, Mao, etc), Mandela isn't one of those. Anytime violence is used, things get messy. Individuals can settle personal scores under the guise of a cause and then the cause gets tainted. For all the praise the MSM media heaps on these other leftist icons, Mandela, for the most part, deserved it.
His choice of spouses, however...

Mandela still took the second best country ever in Africa (#1 was Rhodesia) and turned it into a shithole in like 5 years. So you can call Washington a terrorist all you want, at least he could govern

You pulled your content from ‘nelsonmandela.org’

Ever heard that history is written by the victor? Particularly on his own website. How is that supposed to be unbiased information? You copy/pasted some college professor bullshite that you pulled from the Nelson Mandela foundation and that information is supposed to be accurate?

“Oh, well I know he killed a shitload of people, but he was reluctant to do it so he’s still a good guy”

I honestly thought racism wasn’t a big problem in this country anymore until I started posting here. I’d like to thank a lot of people on this board for helping me stay woke

Why do people insist on posting this shite on the OT instead of the poliboard?

This. The OT has turned into poli board lite. Maybe it’s just me but I think It’s gotten worse over the years. The admins used to either whack political threads here or at least move them to the poli boards.

( I’ve been around for a dozen years... this is not my original account)

I don't care one way or another about Mandela but he was in prison from 1962 - 1990 so your list is shite.

It isn’t political as much as it is historical. Mandela is dead and plays no part in the current political landscape.

Not political enough for the Poli board.

The pool of people who post on Tigerdroppings isn't a good representation of anything. It's heavily skewed towards people who are in great shape, wealthy, highly intelligent, and racist. I don't know anyone that checks all of those boxes in real life.

Ah, the old ‘go to’

“I disagree with you and have no rationale to back up my reasoning why, therefore, you are a racist”

Save us all the trouble of your insecurities, and keep racism out of the discussion. The guy was a terrorist. I didn’t once bring up race. Typically, those that seek to insert race into literally every discussion would seem like the racist...
