Why can’t people admit that Nelson Mandela was a terrorist?

Every time I hear some idiot deep throating Nelson Mandela, I wonder if they’ve ever done enough research about his history to know that he took credit and organized dozens of bombings in and around Cape Town and other South African areas; killing lots of men, women, and children.
Why is this so hard for people to admit? And why is he remembered as some sort of folk hero?

I don't care one way or another about Mandela but he was in prison from 1962 - 1990 so your list is shite.

Well, in the other timeline, he died in prison as a martyr, resulting in the end of apartheid. In this timeline, he was released from prison and became the president of South Africa after the end of Apartheid.
