Yup. 30k for a new super crew f150 last year. It doesnt have leather or a sunroof, but it works for me and I realized I can get by without that stuff. I make a decent living, but couldn't justify playing into the insane cost structure.

In 2016 i paid 8500 for a 2015 hyundai accent with 30k miles. It was a rental prior. Gets almost 37mpg.

I’ve had good luck with used ford focuses. I’ve bought 2 used ones for my kids and they have held up well. The prices on them is pretty decent.

When a lariat costs 50k, that's cheap. It's pretty much as cheap as you can go for a suoercrew without being a "work truck".

2 events combined to really reduce supply, thus spiking prices on the used car markets:
Obama’s Cash for Clunkers program and the Houston Flood. Cash for Clunkers resulted in taking so many aging vehicles out of the U.S. market that it irreparably changed the supply and demand for used cars, causing prices to essentially go up (and stay up) for used cars indefinitely. It could be decades before there’s enough used car stock again for proces to be what they were relative to new cars again.
The flood damaged just an unheard of number of vehicles, so people looking to buy around the Gulf South face higher prices due to there being less supply.

That shite was 10 years ago. Everyone needs to quit blaming cash for clunkers. It's called inflation, just what a car cost now.
I don't think you could trade in limitless cars either. Had to buy a new car as well I thought. And apparently had to own and have insured the car for the pervious 12 months.
