Possibly needing to replace my daughter's car and surprised at the cost of cars on the bottom end of the scale. Looks like you have to get into the $7k range to get anything under 100k miles.

She has my old car, 2006 Nissan Altima V6 and it is having transmission trouble. Most places won't even look at it.

Anyone have luck with any sites such as cars.com, Auto trader com, etc?

I'm in Arlington, TX, probably get whatever I can for it. Still waiting on the shop to get back to us with an official report on the issue and costs.

I know about new cars because we bought my wife a 2016 Highlander Limited. Will have it paid off next January.

Was hoping to stay and the $5k price point. I think CarMax's bottom is around $10k. I'll still check them out.

IMO used are so expensive because no one sells used cars directly to each other anymore. The middle man gives you $2K less than it’s worth and charges $2K more. Dealer, Carmax, Carvana- they all rip you off to the point it seems like new carries the best value.

That's what happened when we bought my wife's vehicle. It made sense to buy new over 2-3 yes old with somewhat high mileage.

But my daughter is 20 yrs old (no pics) with a shitty job and no money. So she gets a used vehicle that hopefully she won't tear up too quickly.

that's because people don't trust each other anymore. People lie, rip each other off, etc.

People believe if they are buying from a reputable dealer, that such things won't happen to them. Now, that may or may not be actual, but it's the reason.

Because people are willing to pay huge amounts for them, and new cars. Do you not follow OT vehicle threads?

"Cash for Clunkers" Obama program gave 8000 bucks for any old car regardless of its actual value, drying up the affordable used car market.

Combined with newer cars built in a way they get totalled more than repaired.

There just arent alot of decent used cars out there now, not like the old days.
